Serves at the French Open are always faster, Venus hit her fastest one there... I always find that shocking....considering the court.

Yes the balls at French open are smaller and faster than the balls at other Grand Slams. ITF made the hardcourt and grass balls 7% bigger for 2002 to slow down the game, but at the same time they made the balls for Roland Garros faster. The balls at Roland Garros are actually also faster than the balls used at other clay court tournaments.
So now there's less difference in game speed on different surfaces, since they have also made the grass at Wimbledon slower.

I always find that shocking....considering the court.
The surface has nothing to do with service speed, at the speed is only measured in the air before it hits the ground.
There's not much difference what surface the server jumps on. So the ball is the major what decides service speed. And altitute and weather also affects the air resistance.

yeah...its not any faster than it was.... Serena's had her chances....if she hadn't have choked last year she would have won. For some reason i think shes gonna choke again this year....she just wants it too badly..

why don't you justify why she needs to lose weight?

she's world number 1. she's won more grandslams than any other woman on the tour. she's one of the best players in the history of the WTA. and she's still winning matches.

so why the fuck does she need to lose weight?

there are plenty of reasons for her to lose weight ...among them .....

less strain on the knees
better movement and balance
career longevity

she's doing fine as she is now and she doesn't need to change anything.

losing weight could result in her losing power which is one of the things she relies on.

there's always room for improvement.

if she lost some weight she would be an even better player.

to suggest that body fat enhances power is ludicrous.

to suggest that it's fat is ludicrous. it's muscle. maybe some fat but you can't be all muscle.

seriously, i don't want to spend my 6.30 arguing with some idiot. :wavey:

Come on now, hater! Serena might not be the GOAT of point construction, but she's certainly one of the best point constructors currently playing the game.

This whole nonsense about her being a brainless ball basher gets on my last damn nerve!!!

Serena has curves... boobs an ass... she liikes them.. as does her man Common. she's not fat... have you seen the pictures of her naked backside with the flower....... No She does not need to lose weight. And career longevity? Last I checked shes 28 everyone else in her generation has retired from the game and pieced out at least once..... Is Serena Venus toothpick thin? no..... but shes not built to be. Go sit down somewhere troll.

i never called her fat....so don't put words in my mouth.

we all know how badly she wants to capture her 2nd RG.

...and as of now, henin would school her.

losing weight for better movement (which is what clay is all about) would only help.

yes she has a naturally larger frame, but still, losing some weight and improving her overall balance and fitness would be a tremendous asset to her game ...esp. as it pertains to clay.

She won her 12 th GS with this weight ,so why should she change a thing ..? as for longevity , well she is still N1 in the world 15 years after her beginings and 11 years after her first GS so your arguments are bullshit .

People should think before they type...
Why the hell would you change a thing when you are literally at the top of your game. If Serena was stick thin like some proclaim she should be, she may have never won 12 slams.
