May 25th, 2010, 12:19 PM
Katie should be honoured by the Queen in winning a set on clay in a slam.

May 25th, 2010, 12:19 PM
Just bring on the grass.

May 25th, 2010, 12:21 PM
8 double faults and 59 unforced errors from Katie.

May 25th, 2010, 12:21 PM
Great job Jilly!! :yeah:

May 25th, 2010, 12:25 PM
Bally or Anne should have had this opponent.

May 25th, 2010, 12:28 PM

May 25th, 2010, 12:29 PM

Nice work Jill!

May 25th, 2010, 12:51 PM
Jill didn't win a set since Indian Wells and Katie manages to get bagelled by her :help:

Katie isn't good enough for the main tour. Her career record shows that she belongs in challengers.

May 25th, 2010, 01:53 PM
If you qualify for the main tour events, you're good enough for them. I actually give a lot of credit to O'Brien, who appears to have worked really hard to maximize her game. She stayed in the top 100 for the better part of six months, earned her way into several grand slams by qualifying and direct entry. In my book, that says a lot about her work ethic and character. Last year may have been a career year for her, but hopefully, she can get her results headed back in the right direction. For so many players, they work so hard to achieve a goal and then rarely get to enjoy it that much, as they discover it takes even more effort to stay there than to get there. That seems to have happened somewhat to Melanie South in the past year. It's a tough game, and I give credit to anyone who works hard to achieve what O'Brien has achieved.

I can't do this anymore

Katie said she could of won the match 'playing mediocre' but made way to many errors and was too inconsistent. Well why didn't she stop going for as much?!

Jill ran and ran, getting balls back and waited for Katie to implode, and she did. Her forehand completely broke down and it was game over.

Katie almost retired in 2008, god only knows what's going through her head now. Chin up, and win a match at Wimbledon please.

Super steady Jill

May 25th, 2010, 02:18 PM
 Katie I thoughtyou could've won this, I think she needs abit of a break after Wimbledon, just to work on that serve or her consictency and she'll be fine in the top 100 :'( Well done to Jill shows her class, at the grand old age of 35 :)

May 25th, 2010, 03:13 PM
Jill REALLY needed that win. Her only victories since Sydney have come against Danilidou and a retirement against Lisicki. Well done to her :)

May 25th, 2010, 03:19 PM
Jill!
Always find a way to get back to the top 100!

May 25th, 2010, 04:08 PM
Wow Katie. That was bad even by your standards.

May 25th, 2010, 04:12 PM
katie needs to get some nerve, any decent draw and she fucks up. hopeless.

May 25th, 2010, 04:25 PM
Proving to be quite the day for the over 35s on the tour:eek:

May 25th, 2010, 04:27 PM
A much needed win for Jilly :yeah:

The mid 30s girls are doing so well this week... RoRo, Kimiko and Jilly :worship:

Katie O

Shame for Katie, but its a good win for Jill - still winning impressivley (with the bagel) at 35.

Jill and Kimiko winning later on in their careers makes me hopeful Mary could still comeback!

Telegraph reporting that jill was moonballing and looping katie off the court, and eventually katie got so frustrated she just started trying to drive volley them!

May 25th, 2010, 06:35 PM
Jill! :rocker2::yeah:

Sad these two had to play one another, but at the same time it was the only way either of them (whom I adore) would have won a match here  Both needed a win real bad, but I was rooting just a tad more for Jill, who I think needs this a bit more at the age of 35 years old. As long as she can make a living out here, I am sure she will continue playing, so this will certainly help the cause :)

Hope Katie can rebound on the grass :)

Jill :woohoo:

Needed this win realy bad.

Ohhh... Katie seems like an endearing character from what I've read of her blogs etc, and I like to see her do well (I like to see all the GB girls do well!) and this is disappointing, yes... Here's hoping she can get some results on the grass now. GL, Katie.

Congratulations to Jill!!

Jilly :woohoo: Keep on going girl!

Katie is just a second-rate brainless ballbasher.

How people expect her to win any match at tour-level is beyond me.

Sorry, but no. You qualify for the main tour events by winning $25K challengers and winning some matches in big challengers, but this is it. Then you go on the main tour and it proves too much for you. Ask South, who ridicously inflated her ranking into the Top 100 playing all these crappy $25K in Australia and the following year found herself out of the top 200 :tape:

May 26th, 2010, 04:04 AM
Go Jill! :) So glad she got a win here!

May 26th, 2010, 07:54 AM
Katie was so upset after this loss, and so she should be. What a wasted opportunity

May 26th, 2010, 09:43 AM
Anyone knows why is she skipping $50K Nottingham next week? :tape:

Even Baltacha is playing that one

2nd rate ?? thats a bit extreme isnt it
3rd or 4th rate is more like it.
