Kim and Justine are in opposite halves of the Munch draw.

KIM starts off against Elena Dementieva.

JUSTINE starts off against Anke Huber.

Okay, it's not till next week, and kim has Luxembourg to win first! But I figured, why not get started cheering early???

Justine beat Anke twice this year (twice pretty difficult), so that should be feasible (if she doesn't play like against Iroda, that is ). Then probably revenge against Serena....
Kim has to take revenge for Championships loss against Elena last year!!

O yeah, and this tournament could be pretty decisive for the Belgian sportswoman of the year award!! If one of both gets to semifinals or finals (and the other doesn't), she should be the favourite, me thinks. Or did I miss anything?

per4ever

hmm then Kim will win. Anke Huber is playing great at the moment, so it will be extremely difficult. A second round against Serena is even worse.

May be they give the price to Justine, because Kim already won it last year?

There's still a chance Serena withdraws, but of course Justine needs to get past Anke first. And that will be tough, looking at the current form of both players.

I like Kim's chances, she will take revenge against Elena for last year, the second round probably Tauziat, who's really good indoor. But Kim will be better so I'm hoping for a semi final against Lindsay.

Good luck Kim and Justine!

About the sportswoman of the year award, I expect Kim to win it again. Justine didn't have really great results after Wimbledon, she did reach two finals, but Kim won two tournaments. Justine was better at the beginning of the year, Kim's better at the end of the year.

I do expect Justine to win the award for sportpersonality of the year.

I think Kim will make it to the semi final, where she will play against Lindsay. About Justine, her last match has worried me. So I don't really know what to expect. Especially with Anke playing her last tournament, and this in Germany. I don't know. But if she plays good and can get more first serves in than in her last matches then she will get to the second round. Unfortunately Serena will be too much though.

Of couse all this is what my head says, my heart says Justine against Kim in the final!

Justine, pleazzzzzzzzzz, go and get yourself a decent serve. You deserve much better than that !

I have mixed feelings about this match. This was much closer than their previous encounter, which Serena won 75 60 I think. So I guess Justine will find some reasons to be satisfied with her performance (at least I did). On the other hand, she was so close in the second set, showing brilliance at times, she could have won it, and then, who knows what might have happened in a 3rd set ? If only.... (we are in Dreamland, remember ?)

But she will definitely have to improve that 1st serve percentage if she hopes to successfully compete with the top players on a regular basis.

This being said, congrats to her for a fantastic season.
Now bring the Fed Cup trophy home, Justine, and then get a well deserved rest (but don't forget to work on your serve !)

Too bad about Justine's serve, she played a lot better than at the US Open. She had a chance to win, if it wasn't from her weak serve.

Justine's game is not perfect yet, there are still a lot of things she can work on. Also mentally, she talked about the pressure in her interview. I think her game needs a few more years to totally develop. Then, per4ever, she will win these big tournaments, I don't doubt about that.

In the entire first set I thought Justine looked extremely nervous. Given those nerves, she played pretty good tennis!

In the 2nd set , a fierce determination overcame the nerves, and Justine played so much better, while Serena played worse. But Justine just could not do it in the pressure of the tiebreak.

I take a lot of hope from this match. Justine's serve is fine in itself; it's the nerves that wreck it. To see her deal with her nervousness as well as she did is a great sign for her future. And she was very angry at herself at the end, while Serena smiled at her and tried to chat a bit. it's another good sign to me that Justine was MAD!

Justine, you go, girl!
