Tomorrow, I will be fine with it, that he made the semi and lost in 5 close sets. But right now, I am annoyed at how his game dropped off and his served sucked hard at the end :o It's too close after the match for me to be at all positive right now

Yeah, he said he worked hard on just being more patient and focused on every single point in his matches. Not just trying to blast a winner whenever he can, so he now has a really good mindset in his matches. It's nice to see him overcoming his headcase ways, but I'm still so annoyed right now at how close he was to a slam final :o

If there's any good that comes from this--for me,personally--it's that Schiavone's play gives me long-term hope....Don't be offended,Luca, but I don't consider Fran to be amazingly talented...not what you'd consider Slam champion caliber. She's certainly a GOOD player, yet not what anyone would expect in a Slam final...plus her record in finals is also quite awful. She has had a well-known penchant for choking....I just feel like,If Fran can do it,then cetainly Dinarik or Marion could do it someday if things went right for them in a draw

Stosur has no brain, really no brain. She doesn't know how or when to change her tactics to win. Her heavy forehand into Schiavone's forehand is working, but the inside out forehand into the backhand is not working. Yet, she keeps doing it.

I mean, I really think it is a joke, no offence to Schiavone because she played a good match, but had Stosur played like she did earlier, she wins this match 6-4 6-2 or something. And she will never get a draw that easy in a slam again.

And she will never get a draw that easy in a slam again.Yeah,I've liked Stosur,a little bit,for a while,so I have a small amount of sympathy for her...but not TOO much....She had her chances at a Slam and just didn't bring it.I seriously doubt that Fran expected to win RG going in...maybe only at the very end, when she reached the semis, did she start to believe.I've never been too drawn to Fran b/c,tbh,she's not what you'd call 'easy on the eyes' and most interviews are in English...and hers is awful(though she speaks Spanish well like many Italian players,I think).PLUS she has a history as a choker, too,so that wasn't too inspiring.Still, stories like these are part of what make sports thrilling, and I smiled seeing Fran's genuine ecstasy as she celebrated......There is vERY rarely any such human interest in the ATP(which dominant player will win?....YAWN!).I'm sure that Fran,Luca and most of Italy will be celebrating for a while;)

Who dares wins :worship:Amen to THAT!The Indianapolis Colts were 14-0 this past season with only 2 games remaining in the regular season;they had a shot at the first perfect season in the modern era(with the expanded schedule). The PLAYERS wanted to go for the record, but the coaches and management were a bunch of chickenshit cowards...and they pulled the top players in the last two games for fear of injury:rolleyes:.The head coach's cowardly,play-it-safe approach came back to bite him in the Super Bowl when the New Orleans Saints exploited that strategy....I was thrilled to see that:devil:....So,even though I want Caro to diversify her game and become a mainstay in the WTA with a more exciting style of play,I can relate to why so many of you don't like pushers...and don't respect gutless players. From what people describe,Stosur had that same frozen, fearful look--while exiting the tunnel--that Dinara had LAST year.If Dinarik ever makes another final, let's hope that she can win or lose based on her ABILITY:o

Anyways, off topic. :lol:You're missing my point,Curtis....I'm talking about Caldwell's overly-conservative attitude which was seen in his rejection of history and, more importantly, with his weak approach in the SB.Playing a Cover 2 defense might work against plodding teams such as the Ravens and Jets who have young QBs,but it's just plain STUPID vs. a guy like Drew Brees who reads defenses excellently and picks zones apart.Caldwell should have KNOWN that as a former def. co-ordinator,and he refused to blitz in the 2nd Half even though getting pressure on Brees was his ONLY hope of stopping him. Also,on offense,it was cowardly to sit on the ball at the end of the first half...and they only gave the Saints more momentum by allowing them time to score again before halftime...not to mention the rinky-dink,5-yards-at-a-time playcalling on offense that played RIGHT INTO the hands of the Saints bend-but-don't-break defense. How many drives stalled w/o points when the Colts held the ball for 5-plus minutes and had nothing to show for it??

Don't get me wrong,I actually like Manning and several other Colts;my beef is with chickenshit Polian and Caldwell who let fear of losing dictate their strategy...instead of playing to win...and I don't apologize for being slightly off-topic b/c all the Aussies & Kiwis are in bed...and the Europeans are at the clubs on Saturday night...we're all alone here:lol:

Curtos07

^I agree on that. You would never see that out of a Bill Belichick coached team. That's the main reason why the Colts are the Atlanta Braves of football and only have one championship despite all the regular season success the past decade. Tony Dungy was very similar, and as great of a coach he was, he failed at the most important times in the playoffs with his conservative approach.

I guess for Rafa.. but I really want Soderling to bring it.. to play awesome.. and for it to be a thrilling 5 setter.

I was reading around people saying yesterday's woman's final was the best in the last few years.. And I was utterly bored for most of it.. except for maybe the very end and the tie break. Then you watched the good part.. The last few games and the tie break were very nice. Not only do I hope Soderling wins because I'm a fan, but the men's game needs more champions.

Murray hasn't stepped up, Djokovic is going through a similar crisis of confidence to Ana (only on a smaller scale), and Del Potro will miss all the slams this year with injury.

People complain that the ATP is only about 2 players, and Soderling could really help dispel that myth. ;)

That's true, but on quite a few break points Söderling has got a short ball, like on his backhand, and missed it long. Yeah.. Sod played dumb on many of the BPs.. either chosing the wrong side or plain hitting it long/at the net. Besides.. he would hit a great shot and instead of going to the net to finish it off, he would stay in the middle of the court.. the so called no mans land. Rafa was moonballing some of his defense shots.. if Sod had came in, he would most definitely made at least one winning volley and taken a BP.

Still,he has proven his greatness on clay,so that legitimizes his previous titles that were won when he was jacked up...sorta like Henin's early, decisive loss this year legitimizes Ana's 2008 RG,IMO.Now,if he can win on any surface besides clay(unlikely),I'll give you a big-time :worship::worship::worship:...and I might even send Rafa a gift of admiration:hatoff:...maybe a color-by-numbers coloring book for him to 'read' during rain delays:lol:

So...2+2=4...or...2+2=5?I just hope that Ana doesn't snort coke with him when she's depressed...or to heighten their sexual arousal(as some people do).HE apparently doesn't get drug-tested in his 'sport',so he has nothing to lose...whereas Ana would get a one-year suspension that could be a death-blow to her career:eek:.Don't get me wrong;Ana's not some addict otherwise we would've seen her lose weight noticeably, but powder cocaine isn't as addictive as the synthetic type,so it's possible for SOME people to use it recreationally w/o getting addicted....It's VERY popular with surfers and Hollywood types...like Kate Hudson, for example:rolleyes:

It's interesting how girls get 2 years WADA ban for using cocaine(Hingis,Karatancheva)and guys just 2 or 3 months(Wilander,Gasquet,Chela,Volandri...)Rusedski and Paszek were cleared of doping offence and Agassi avoided suspension in 1997 by claiming that he took the drug "accidently".But the list of baned tennis players is so impresive:Beck,Bogomolov Jr,Canas,Coria,Dupuis,Hood,Korda,Novacek,Dominguez Lino,Puerta.
Sad thing is that "tennis experts" like Reed,Kronin,Bodo,Jenkins and others don't dare to write about this problem...they might lose their jobs.Instead of that we gonna hear all about Ana's slump,"fistgate",Dinara being a headcase,Novak's asthma problem,or who has sexiest wife and gf on the tour.

Yeah, the guys are "the stars";never mind that the WS and Sharapova and Ana are FAR more popular than any male player, worldwide. In reference to your earlier post,I don't dare to dream that Ana would have such a moment of lucidity that she kicked that loser to the trash heap like the Swedish gal wisely did once she grew up.Honestly,if Ana did THAT,then I'd be SOOOOO pleasantly surprised that I'd become a Nadal fan:unsure::unsure:...but ONLY for the rest of 2010...and ONLY if Ana didn't replace the Tumor with someone WORSE...for example, one of the Virgin Golovin's legion of ex- or current bfs:o

I'm not sure she will ever find form, but what's definitely true is that she is missing the best years to build her career.. If she was playing only decent she could be racking up titles.. even slam titles.. at least at RG. But she decided to play club level at the most inconvenient of times.

Well,I tried to do a bit of research, and I'm FAIRLY certain that the English suffix "-don" means 'town',basically...so then I looked up 'wimble',which is NOT a commonly-used word, and the dictionary defined it as either a kind of brace or a bore that's used when drilling for natural resources such as coal....So,I'm just gonna take a guess that, centuries ago, there was a town by that name where they produced those instruments for laborers who explored underground for resources.

I say this because it's really pathetic that the WTA continues to allow the UK to host tennis events;the LTA should either build a retractable roof for all its events(since it rains EVERY f--king day)...or forfeit them to ANOTHER country...one that hasn't had a disgraceful fall from world power.Seriously,I think the Argentines might actually kick the Brit's asses if they tried to take the Falklands again today...and as for British tennis,it's hard to describe just what a colossal joke it's become when you contrast that with its former leadership status.Imagine if Brasil started getting their tails whipped 5-0 every time they played Jamaica...or Iceland...or the U.S...in soccer...or imagine Russia getting destroyed 8-0 by Luxembourg in ice hockey...that sorta gives you a perspective on how bad British tennis really is.

So,to avoid the absurdity of playing 2 matches per day in between rain delays, the formerly-named Wimbledon will be moved somewhere that precipitation isn't a factor...like Estado Chihuahua in Northern Mexico. It's not uncommon for us to go an entire MONTH w/o rain, and our new GS could be hosted in our biggest city,Juarez...or the state capital,Ciudad de Chihuahua...or we could build a tourist-friendly facility in La Sierra Tarahumara...or even in the town where Pancho Villa is buried,Parral---affectionately known as 'the Capital of the World'.I'll ask my lady professor pal for confirmation, but I think the best translation of 'wimble' into Spanish is 'taladro'...that's not a word that we use in conversation...unless someone's a miner,maybe...all the same,'Taladrovilla' has a nice ring to it.I can picture it now,"Fans wait with anticipation to see if Roger Federer and Serena Williams can win back-to-back Taladrovilla titles."

Gotta retract yesterday's criticism SOMEwhat. Some of my family have visited England, and they described Birmingham as a boring, industrial town that is NOT very attractive. So,basically, why in the hell would you even wanna GO there?Originally,I felt slightly sorry for the players cuz of the delays, but then I thought about it and decided that the players DESERVED that inconvenience if they were dumb enough to play a tourney that almost never completes more than 2 or 3 matches per day.....Btw,that's not rain...it's urine....The heavens are PISSING on the woefully fallen British Empire:eek:

Just wanted to tip my hat to Nadal:hatoff:...even though he started weakly on grass,as I expected.I've seen LOTS of American baseball and football players who were never able to reclaim their previous glory after they were caught juicing. It took Rafa a while to adjust, but he's actually a better, more mobile player w/o all that fake, bloated muscle holding him down...causing extra strain on his knees...which,as it turns out, weren't injured all that badly.True,he lost some power and stamina, but he made some adjustments to his game accordingly, and his physique will last MUCH longer w/o all that crap in his system...which would've eventually contributed to chronic injuries from overtaxing his body.

Even though clay often favors the player with less power,it was impressive that he amassed a FLAWLESS record this clay season while other, supposed stars sucked. His shot-making,playing of the angles and defensive maneuvers were truly remarkable.I was just a little kid when Borg was great on clay, but I suspect that Nadal might be better...and congrats to him for his revenge vs. Soderling

From a tennis standpoint,he's GOT to beat Nadal at least once someday if he expects to receive much respect. In the NFL,even the pathetic,sucky-ass Browns beat the Steelers or Ravens once in a blue moon. There are lots of less-talented players who've beaten Nadal,so Nando needs to 'man up'.....IF he has that within him. That might even be what it takes for him to break thru and become a Slam winner. If he never accomplishes that then, tbh, maybe he doesn't really DESERVE a GS title

It's 46-45 now.. :spit: Isner x Mahut, have been playing for almost 8 hours.. :spit:

The Peer loss was totally expected as well.. she was awful against Ana, she was just lucky she was facing someone playing club level.

The wooden spoon would be Ana's best shot at a title this year.. :o It's definitely her most embarrassing result at a slam ever. And she says Peer is a top player and she has no complaints.. :help::tape:

i saw it on facebook now... "I can't have any complaints":tape:x1000

if it's her management, that's one thing, but if it's her, I'm sorry but she needs help:o
however she says she's hitting the gym, maybe she realized she 's being an elephant out there:o

I don't think it matters much to be honest.. But well... it could do her some good to lose weight.

Isner is dead tired, but he can hit the aces.. so he can't break but keeps holding. Mahut looks surprisingly fresh..

Surreal.Izzy,I'm a little pissed already that Algeria couldn't hold on for ONE more minute to flush that overrated American crap down the WC toilet....so I'd like to see Isner lose.....They're tired now, surely, but was this quality tennis BEFORE they went into OT??My guess is,'No',but I'll trust in your input:)

Men's grass-court tennis can be almost unbelievably one-dimensional and uninspiring sometimes...and Isner fits the prototype of the big-serving stooge...Izzy didn't join 'til late...so did anyone ELSe watch this match while the players were still fresh?...to comment on the caliber of play?

No never  Especially not now. But if she could, and this was her, I would definitely no longer be alive right now...I feel bad for anyone who has one of these fellas as their favourite.

There is one guy happy about this.. Thiemo de Bakker, who gets to play one of them tomorrow. :spit:

Did Wimbledon just reactively impose a tiebreaker on the final set??:eek:If they DID,then they can take all of their 'tradition' propaganda and just shove it up their asses!!!:lol::lol:Yeah,I'm sure the match quality sucks...but this is the Holy WIMBLEDON Tradition...."We don't change for ANYone.":p

Oops,my mistake;the scoreboard read 6-6 so I thought they'd given up hope.....Soldier on,Wimble-DUMB(lol)
