"And she can play across all surfaces too"

Martina to German newspaper, Hamburger Abendblatt.
http://www.abendblatt.de/sport/article1474656/Glamourgirl-Wozniacki-ist-reif-fuer-den-Tennis-Thron.html

So Martina joins Edberg, Börg, Evert, Serena and other legends in singing Wozniacki's praises.

Funny, because a person here recently tried to justify how it was not just people on tennisforum who were abhorred by Wozniacki's game but pundits across the board.

Yeah right

What it takes is points and she has them true :tape:

Well, I wouldn't be surprised she takes the no.1 spot, but I really hope that won't happen. Or at least when it does she'll do it by winning something that counts. You know... mandatory event, premier 5, Grand slam?

She has what it takes
But she doesn't have game to fully deserve.
Kman does it again. BRB calling the Anti-Squad

well, she does have capability to generate enough points...does she have what it takes to win something significant remains to be seen though

Good for her. The WTA Tour can use another slam-less #1.

Well of course she would want Serena to lose the number one spot.

Does anyone still have that screenshot of her face after Venus won Wimbledon 07? :haha:

Of course she has.

She has the ability to go deep in tournaments on a consistent basis. Hence she has what it takes. More telling will be if she can win something big to get to number 1.

Caro is #2 and won 16 of 18 matches until she turned her ankle and retired from the Charleston match.
So it isn't a stretch to say she can get to #1.

I like Caro she seems to be the best of the youngsters and will eventually be no.1,she is consistent and winning a slam is possible especially on the hard courts.

Martina's track record as a prognosticator is mixed at best. I mean it's vaguely interesting that she said that, but it's not like it's inscribed on stone tablets and everyone should take it as gospel, either.

And this is from someone who is a fan of both women.

This statement in true in the sense that she has the ability to achieve the top spot by hogging and hoping that Serena doesn't play that many events. It's false in the sense that she doesn't have the ability to take over the top spot on sheer talent. If everyone played the same schedule, she'd never in a million years be atop of the rankings.

I kind of agree, she has said GOAT things like 'Justine's game is the best suited to grass compared to everybody else'

Anyways, given her consistency and Serena's injury, she has a good chance to take over the tanking  Kind of like how JJ did, but with way lesser wins.

Only counting Slams, Premier Mandatory events and the YEC, wanna venture a guess who is (still) ranked #2?

Hingis said this long time ago. Back in 2007. She also predicted that Safina will become no.1. So nothing new. Woz. will become number 1 no matter what, so ..

Yes there's nothing new in that article at all. It's just put toghter by a German newspaper of old articles from other sources because they wanted to write something about the top seed at the German WTA tournamnet going on in Stuttgart at the moment. At it's always easier and quicker to steal clips here and there from other articles than actually doing some research and interviews yourself. Sadly it's seems copy/paste and bringing articles from news agencies like Reuters is all that newspapers does these days. Very little journalistic work in news medias these days. Just buy a short news article from Reuters or Google something and you have an article to bring. But it's the same thing as every other news media brings.

Exactly :yeah:

Wozniacki also reached the Final i 3 of those 9 tournaments - only equalled by Venus and Serena! Quite good by someone who's supposed to be better at smaller events ;)
