Kim outclassed former world number 1 Arantxa Sanchez-Vicario 6-1 6-4 by winning the last 5 games of the match. She's now into the quarters where she will play the winner of the match between Hrdlickova and Tauziat.

Justine easily beat Swedish qualifier Åsa Carlsson 6-2 6-3. She will take on Barbara Schett next for a place in the quarters against Venus Williams.
