Long, close match, Chak played well mostly and lost by a tiny margin. 18 BP obviously created a lot of openings and needed to just close it out. She should be confident that she can win these matches.

It was the end of April 2008 that Kimiko Date Krumm began her comeback with an ITF 50k event in Japan. At the time Anna Chakvetadze was ranked world number 7. If back then someone had predicted that less than two years later Kimiko would be celebrating in Miami having defeated Anna for the 2nd time in 2010, I am pretty sure that person would have been taken away in a straightjacket.
But that is exactly what has happened.
Kimiko Date Krumm......making the impossible happen.

What her ranking now? I hope Vaidisova-Chakvetadze-Ivanovic fenomena will end soon. It's a heartbreaking to see the talent going to waste...

Anna was up 4-0 in the 1st, and serving 2-1 40-0 in the 3rd.

Good girl Kimiko:worship:
Kudos to the Chak for even playing after hurting herself so badly in IW that she couldn't play one last game to finish the match. Fighter.
Mar 25th, 2010, 08:03 AM
I hope Anna doesn't have to play Kimiko again anytine soon.
So happy for Kimiko, glad she is back and healthy.
Heartbreaking for Anna, so many chances.
She seems to be basically there but just can't close out...
