Why not include Dementieva or Henin?

Dementieva is in the poll. He just used the alternate spelling of "Others."

And please, you people who are saying the draw "opened up for her" at IW are :weirdo:. Potentially facing Aga, Caro and JJ?

The only thing worse would be facing Henin, TOB and Venus.

(Yes, there are players who would be salivating at Aga, Caro and JJ. Lena D is most assuredly NOT one of them).

no one would have said anything if you didn't put ivanovic.henin isn't just a grand slam winner, she is the second best player of her generation,so to exclude her from a poll just because she didn't make semis in the previous tournament is laughable.but i guess you dislike her,so it's ok.

Btw, the "Others" option doesn't get too many votes either and it's where all the Henin and Dementieva votes are supposed to go.

My completely un-scientific logic says that given the physical demands these days, and the total inconsistency of all the players in light of that, it's ll but impossible to string together good performnces at both IW and Miami, so I would look for someone who wasn't stretched too hard at IW to come out firing. Henin or Clijsters, to me, seem like good bets. Maybe Kuznetsova, Dementieva or Azarenka, again, or Venus, but she might be rusty, and from what I saw of her the past couple years, she doesn't particularly play her best on those courts.

However, I'm going on a limb and saying none of those. I think it's wide open, and we might wind up with a real surprise.

I will be disappointed if Venus doesn't win. Serena is her only worthy opponent. Fact.

When is the last time Venus had a good run in Miami? She beat Aga 64 in the 3rd last year. Lost to Sveta in 2 in 2008
She played Peer in the SF in Dubai, then was struggling against a player ranked about #400 in Mexico.

This tournament is wide open, just like IW was
No way Jankovic was the favorite at IW.

That's what is good about tennis. Players go up and down.
Someone will have a big up this tournament

Normally, the USO champ should probably be the favorite, but Kim was not good in Melbourne or IW.
Justine was good in Melbourne and not at IW

Its real gambling, guessing who shows up prepared this tournament

Venus is an excellent player, probably deserves to be co-favorite with Justine and Kim.
But off grass, she is not above the field based on her results

I am surprised more than a quarter tips Venus Williams for the Miami title. From my memory, last she won a tour event in North America is back in 2004. For whatever reason, Venus Williams usually underperforms when playing in the US.

Then again, its maybe the usual style of TF voting. Its not really what you think, its what you hope, wish and pray for :)

Heavily depends on the draw, but I'd expect one of these four: Venus, Kim, Justine, Kuzzie (with Azarenka as a darkhorse).

Even though Venus hasn't been in the final here in years, she's won it three times and therefore is probably a slight favorite.

On a completely different note, why isn't this officially called Key Biscayne anymore? The same thing happened with Rosmalen suddenly turning into S'Hertogenbosch for whatever reason

Not sure who will, but would be nice to have Jankovic - Henin SF! And JaJa to finally beat JuJu, then to face Venus in final (their first final!)

I voted Venus originally anyway but now I think so even more, she has a great draw. In the first round, she'll get the winner of Larcher de Brito VS Cirstea (Ie. Bye VS Bye). And that's not even considering the rest of the draw.
