So happy at the odds, $1.75 for Janka is an absolute steal.

Come on people, watch the replays, I have twice, and todays match was a laugh. Stosur beat a girl
6-4/7-6 who was serving at 39%, couldnt hit more than 2 shots in a rally, couldnt return, couldnt volley, and who had 15-40 on Stosurs serve in the first set, but blew the lot.

Janka is going to cruise tomorrow.

Thanks to all the doubters yesterday.

$500 @ $1.75. And thank you bookies.

oh. my. god.

Worst tactical match I have ever seen Sam play, and thats saying something. How passive can you play against Jelena Jankovic :help:
Do something with the ball, change your gameplan if its not working. When Jelena is puff balling her shots into the middle of the court, don't smash the balls outside the stadium...

fuck. Ruined her whole tournament for me.

Jelena served well :)

It was an "ok" match from Jankovic.
But even in this shape she will lose at the Slams in Round 3 or 4.

Her opponents in quarterfinal and semifinal were absolutely inexistent. It was a really bad match.

In my opinion, the level of this tournament is a new low in the last years. It's a really bad tournament for womens tennis.

My advise to Stosur would be to construct a racquet composed entirely of frame is she does that she would probably become world number one.

Sammy was bad :o
Never really adapated to the windy conditions and 47 ue from her :help:

JJ struggled a bit but she was in control. She returned well enough, had BP on almost all Sammy's service games.
w/ue are sthg like 19/28.Not bad given the conditions and the fact that there was little to no rythm from Stosur.

JJ in the final : honestly, I wouldn't have thought watching her vs Errani. One more match now.

Same thing as last match, her opponent starts off playing really well and JJ raises her level to get on top then JJ was totally in control making Sam look like an amateur. Of course, once JJ had completely ruined Sam's confidence then JJ herself started to lose concentration and play passively making too many errors but it was obvious after the first few games that Sam is no match for JJ.

Wish I'd seen this match just to confirm the various accounts that I'm hearing. The excuse early on was that it was the early rounds etc. but we're as far gone as the semis and in the results thread there are constant complaints about the low quality matches. Zheng-Caro, JJ-Errani and Clijsters-Kleybanova are the only matches I can think of that haven't been trashed for being utter crap. :help:

Nightmare match-up for Stosur, especially if Jankovic hits CC to her backhand around 80% of the time, which i think she will.

Stosur will always struggle when she has to inject enormous amounts of pace into her shots, against opponents who give her very little. Jankovic a la '08, would probably be able to expose Stosur's leaden footwork more efficiently, but even less than herself, it's still possible.

Jankovic in 2. Hejira was right, it seems. Stosur's BH slice was...not consistent enough to win against Janko in rallies..

I missed about 4 games in the middle of 1st set (those in which Jankovic broke Stosur) due to a power outage.

I've seen Stosur serve better than she did today, but also worse - yet she won next to no free points off her serve. Jankovic will stretch and scoop back even serves hit out wide that would have been aces against just about any other player.

Despite her appalling footwork and inconsistency from the baseline (minimized somewhat by high bouncing courts such as those at IW), Stosur still poses some problems for Jankovic, more than the matchup on paper would lead you to believe. For a starters, Jankovic likes to rally herself into a rhythm, and she won't get that from Stosur, who goes from all-out agression to framing shots into the stands. Also, Jankovic's Bolletierite training leads her to step in and try to attack high bouncing shots such as Stosur's ATP-ish x-treme topspin FH, but she struggled to generate enough pace to do so with any kind of effectiveness. For most of the 2nd set, she was content with hitting mere pushballs and let Stosur's inconsistency take care of the rest.

Stosur started the match very strong, winning the first six points all (or nearly all) with big winners. But eventually her poor footwork did her in, even though Jankovic didn't test it as much as I thought she would - Stosur doesn't move her feet at all on ROS, with often disastrous consequences, and some of her drive BHs were hit so late and with herself so out of position that she ended up making contact with the ball when it was slightly to the right of her torso, and thus with no control.

Overall, Jankovic didn't show much improvement from the match vs Kleybanova - she's still playing at about 60% of her capabilities. Her movement has been subpar for her standards, and she's struggling to hit with the consistent depth she did in her prime, and/or generate pace - something she is forced to do here given the way the court plays (actual surface is like velcro; put even the least bit of spin on the ball and it will bounce into the stratosphere - it's very difficult to feed off another player's pace here).

I'm honestly more affraid of Radwanska, then Wozniacki...

I agree, Radwanska is playing so well and will be much tougher than Wozniacki.

I thought so too. How the hell did Rad lose??
