Caro and Jelena seem to be getting into form
Elena was supposed to get this far. Her match with Aga will tell a lot.
Sam is playing very good now. And she is playing an under ranked player with all court talent.
Alisa is on the rise, and might be ready for a breakthru

But the big names aren't playing the QFs.

Former champions Clijsters, Henin, Sharapova, Ivanovic and Hantuchova : out. Top seed : out.

I think that the girls in the best form have made the QF thats it... maybe they are not the big names, but they are the ones who turned up ready to play.

One more former champion out: Zvonareva.

Despite so, 5 of the top 8 seeds still made it. I'm sure some people will disagree - but it shows great depth in the women's field to produce so many players capable of matching each other's game.

JJ made it past 3R. So yes, best tournament so far.

Sam is not a seed, nor Top 8.

Even with the top 4 ranked players reached the Wimbledon semis last year, people still were not satisfied with it.
So it's better if all seeds lose before QF.:hearts:

A Caro-Jelena match, when both are in form, is going to be entertaining.
2 of the best at going side to side and developing long points that frustrate opponents

Some of them just plainly suck at the moment ;) They are not playing like top players.

Yeah I know Seles and Graf are not playing either. You know what else? Twenty years from now there won't be a single player with a name you know today, that will suck. There is no other way for WTA only to go down.

it started out terribly, but even though it sounds like the big names aren't there, the 'top' players did make it to the end

I watched 15 ladies matches at Indian Wells so far, but most of the matches have been lousy. My 2 favorite matches were Klaybanova vs Clijsters and Woznicki vs Zheng. Maybe I would feel differently if Wickmayer, Sharapova and Lisicki might have had better success. The empty crowds for the ladies matches have my head spinning in disbelief. The Radwanska vs Wozniacki match will be last tommorrow, so I will be anxious to see how many fans stay after the 2nd men's quarter final tomorrow.

Don't think this is the best this year. Even AO was better because it had more meaning names,

despite of it had less people from the top 8 represented in the quarters.

Good that the seeds are getting through to the later rounds, but all of that means little if the quality of play is questionable (lots of UFEs, poorly played points etc.) I've said it before but even fans are trashing the level of play in most matches. (Kley-Kim, Zheng-Caro and JJ-Errani are the only matches that aren't being wholly condemned as terrible, low quality or 'dreadful' tennis. I find that pretty telling unfortunately.)
