Since we have four players--Lisjak, Tomljanovic, Mijacika and Lucic--who have a good shot at making this year's French Open and Wimbledon qualies, I thought it would be fun to track their progress toward that goal.

Assuming that qualies cut-off at GS events is #210-215, a player would need approximately 250 points to make it. Also, the qualies entry lists are based on the rankings three weeks before the events. Here then is how many points those four players need to pick up between now and then:

Player (current pts): Pts from 250 + Pts to defend = Total pts needed

French Open (entry list based on May 3 rankings)
Tomljanovic (266): -16 + 19 = 3
Lisjak (249): 1 + 28 = 29
Mijacika (211): 39 + 0 = 39
Lucic (251): -1 + 47 = 46

Wimbledon (entry list based on May 31 rankings)
Tomljanovic (266): -16 + 20 = 4
Lisjak (249): 1 + 28 = 29
Mijacika (211): 39 + 0 = 39
Lucic (251): -1 + 53 = 52

I doubt that Mijacika and Lucic will manage to "collect" 47/48 points in next one month, assuming their current form. Lisjak will for sure make it for RG and I hope Ajla as well; one win in IW/M would probably guarantee it. Hope she'll draw someone in the slump or SE or WC

It was 6 weeks for the AO, so looks like girls have something like 4-5 weeks to go for the French. I agree that it's hard to believe Mijacika and Lucic will do it, but you never know. If Mijacika gets a small miracle and starts playing like last year, she certainly can do it.

I should have mentioned that Mijacika's numbers don't reflect the fact that she picked up 8 points this week at Minks. So she really needs 39 points, not 47.

Assuming that qualies cut-off at GS events is #215, a player would need approximately 250 points to make it. Here then is how many points these players need to pick up between now and six weeks before the events, which is the entry cut-off date (or is just three weeks for qualies? Do any of you know?).

French Open (by April 11, 2010)
Lisjak (249 pts currently): 1 (points short of 250) + 1 (points being defended until the cut-off date) = 2 pts
Tomljanovic (228 pts): 22 + 20 = 42 pts
Mijacika (203 pts): 47 + 0 = 47 pts
Lucic (203 pts): 47 + 1 = 48 pts

Since my post, Ajla has picked up 5 pts (IW) + 5 pts (Miami) + 14 pts (Pelham, so far) = 24 points. She's still about 18 points short from making RG qualies, according to my calculations. If she wins tomorrow, she'll pick up another 10 points.

SO Lucic would need a title in Jackson or Osprey or some good result in PVB or Charleston? So hard to believe, but the hope is still here. :)
Hopefully Ajla will make it to SF in Pelham and than I'm sure she will win at least one match in Jackson or in Osprey.

ajla did enter already RG quallies

i really don't think she will. hey didn't gave her wc in 2007 when she asked for it and then she was ''comeback girl''. today she's nobody for wimbledon. :(

So what Mirjana has to do to get to Wimbledon qualies?
Is there any chance?

It's gonna be hard cause she has in next 3 weeks one R2 25k, one 75k R2 and QF of 50k points to defend.
So she has to defend those points and add some moore.

she's going to need 2-3 wins per tournament if she loses in the semis today. she's in if she wins the tournament and just defends her points

With that win, Mirjana really just needs to defend some of her points the next three weeks
I just hope she does well next week and doesn't have to worry about it

I've updated the numbers to reflect the fact that qualies entry lists for RG and Wimbledon are based on the rankings three weeks before. Here's how the qualies race for Ajla, Ivana, Mirjana and Ani is shaping up:

Player (current pts): Pts from 250 + Pts to defend = Total pts needed

French Open (entry list based on May 3 rankings)
Tomljanovic (266): -16 + 19 = 3
Lisjak (249): 1 + 28 = 29
Mijacika (211): 39 + 0 = 39
Lucic (251): -1 + 47 = 46

Wimbledon (entry list based on May 31 rankings)
Tomljanovic (266): -16 + 20 = 4
Lisjak (249): 1 + 28 = 29
Mijacika (211): 39 + 0 = 39
Lucic (251): -1 + 53 = 52

Both qualies look extremely doable for Ajla; all she needs is one win this week in Osprey.

Lisjak doesn't need many points for either RG or Wimbledon qualies, but given how seldom she plays and the fact that she hasn't won a match since February, it's very unlikely she'll make it. RG qualies is pretty much impossible for her; Wimbledon, perhaps...

Mijacika also doesn't need too many points, but she has really petered out lately--not playing as much and not winning as much either. The situation is the same as for Lisjak: RG qualies is pretty much impossible, Wimbledon less so.

Lucic has picked up a lot of points lately. Unfortunately she's also defending a lot of points over the next three weeks. RG qualies is doubtful; it all depends on how well she defends her points. Wimbledon qualies is much more hopeful, as long as she keeps playing.

^ Ajla won her R1 match today in Osprey so she's guaranteed to make the qualies entry lists for RG and Wimbledon! Congratulations!
