My friends' formal dresses

So today we talked about the formal and we came up the idea that they should make their own dresses with the help of a gay guy :angel:. One of my friends does textiles so constructing the dress shouldn't be too much of a problem. I just want ideas for the design and like I want to know what kind of fabrics you think we should use etc.

So basically, tell me:
- what you think of the design.
- what you think should be changed/improved
- and anything relevant to it :)

- short
- purple and white
- waistline just below the botace
- that thing that goes across the shoulder (have no idea what they're called)
- bubble skirt (I didn't know how to draw it so it was just rounded :tape:)

Personally i like the seocnd on better.

The thing that goes around the shoulder (purple dress), I would make it asymetrical.

Not really, like say have ruffles go from the right side, sorta like a thick strap and have it cascade down the left shoulder. That way it seems less uptight.

I like the top part, but it looks like something only someone really tall and quite skinny could pull off. I hope your friend can, but another option would be just to add it straps and a low v-neck :)

As for the bottom part, I like her idea, but 2 layers seems a little unfinished for me, especially if it is going to be so wide at the bottom. It could be closer to her legs and have it with 2 layers or it could stay wider but add a few more transparent layers (some blue, some silver) ;) You could keep the slit, but only on the transparent layers.

I am trying what could be done to the first one. In my opinion the 2nd one is much better :D

I like the pink short dress its cute. Maybe at the bottom you could have some mild pleats. As for the waist a light pale pink silky ribbon could be worn around the waste area.
