I think Lindsay also saved a couples of MPs against Srebotnik at the 2006 US Open. ;)

Thanks alot for doing one of these for Lindsay. It must have taken a long time for her. :yeah:

I forgot she only played 1 ITF.

Personally I don't count the 4R of a Grand Slam as an "early loss". It's still the second week and two top 10 players can run into each other. From RG 2000 to AO 2008, Lindsay had 20 consecutive 4R+ appearances.
Furthermore, between Wimbledon 1997 to AO 2008 she only had 1 first week loss (30/31). That's one of her most impressive stats IMO and one of the best for showing just how unbelievably consistent she was.

Her hardcourt record too is just stunning.

She should have won more slams.

You think or you are sure?
I used the Rollo's match points saved thread and didn't notice that match was mentioned there. Unless I overlooked it which is possible

Personally I don't count the 4R of a Grand Slam as an "early loss".

It's not an early loss for 99% players on the tour but it is for a Grand Slam champion, imo.

You think or you are sure?
I used the Rollo's match points saved thread and didn't notice that match was mentioned there. Unless I overlooked it which is possible

And the one and only Olympics queen, she has never lost a match in singles, ever!

She had wins over top-tenners every year from 93-2008  what longevity.

9 matchpoints lost/taken by Seles collectively:eek: And this against a player she had a commanding record against. I'm sure she'd love that YEC back:lol:

Awesome, awesome stats though. Perhaps the most consistently, achieving player of the mid-90's to the mid 2000's. Always at the top of women's tennis for the most part.

14 top-ten wins in 1996 and she still only finished the year ranked number 9  and that was when quality points were still used.
Did Olympics not count towards ranking points back in 96?

Athens-2004 was the first Olympic tournament with WTA ranking points.
I'd say #9 is pretty normal YER for someone who won 1 Tier II title, lost in 3R at two slams and played 17 tournaments overall.

Seles saved mp's in each of her wins over Davenport.

Her 2004-05 resurgence was one of the nicest stories in those years; too bad she never won a slam again after 2000 (she reached four more finals, losing to a Williams sister each time, twice letting a one set lead slip away).

I'm not saying it wasn't normal; simply testimony to Davenport's inconsistency back then. The ability to beat a lot of good top-ten players, but then lose to scrubs. (Eg, Wild.) But what slam did she lose 3r at  Wta tour says 4r-4r-2r-Qf

Plus it makes an interesting comparison. Look at Vera Zvonareva who ended 2009 as #9. Zvonareva had two top-ten wins the whole year. (I think. Didn't include Fed Cup.)

Oops. Sorry, looked at the wrong year (1994).
Still, the facts she played a "lot" of tournaments, kinda underperformed at slams and tier I/II tournaments and "only" 8 of 14 top-10 wins were counted towards the rankings took their toll on her.

It's pointless to compare them ranking-wise -- the 1996 and 2009 ranking systems are completely different.

I've followed Lindsay since 94 and I loved reading the stats of her whole career as there is a pretty good chance she won't be adding to them any time soon. Thanks for posting it.

Didn't even say nothing...just my feelings and thoughts. I mean, no.1 for so long and "only" 7 major finals, etc.

Not taking digs at Linds, just..but ok.

It's quite possible Lindsay is the only top-player in recent history (30+ years) to have never won less than 3 games in a completed match. She has never suffered a 60 62, 62 60 or 61 61 loss.

yes; in fact it's indicative of just how much the ranking system has changed.
