And yes the word sombrero is well known here too.

Acapulco is tough, Vee is playing, but I'm sure Ági can make the semis or final, and maybe even surprise us, Vee is definitely having a crap year :tape:.

Shouldn't we have separate threads for separate tournaments though?

And to answer one of the early questions, Vinci is playing Acapulco, so potentially she will play doubles :D.

Well, why not a thread for these two tournaments? You don't NEED to have a seperate thread for each tournament

Ági will play with Dulko in Acapulco. ;)

Ági will play with Dulko in Acapulco. ;)
 well I'm glad she's playing doubles, but seriously, you would think she would want to find a constant partner :o she's played with Dulko before, maybe they can be constant? But I feel like Dulko plays with others usually.

iGOAT
Feb 20th, 2010, 01:43 AM
I still think it's easier if this is just for Acapulco though. I mean, already she's playing doubles with Dulko in Acapulco, but Monterrey will probably be different, just a little confusing...

hellas719
Feb 20th, 2010, 02:24 AM
Whatever
I mean, it's not a big deal :o. They're both MM tournaments so I figured it would be fine if we had one thread for two since a lot of player forums do that with similar tournaments, but I'll change the title if you insist :p

I think the draw won't be out until tomorrow. I remember that from the past. Ági will be the second seed :D so hopefully a friendly draw. Besides Venus Williams, she can certainly beat everyone in the draw. I guess I'd rather Suárez Navarro is on her side than Dulko. Doubles will be interesting, she and Gisela may even be top seeds. Hopefully they will go far.

Errani/Vinci should be beatable, Vinci wasn't too impressive when she played with Ági at the AO.

She has a really good draw! The only tough players near (well hopefully, who knows with her ) are Cornet (who is horrible lately) and Hercog, who beat her in Budapest a few years ago, but really should be beatable. Dulko is tough, but certainly beatable too.

First things first though, hopefully she will beat Zahlavova! And hopefully they will schedule her late in the day, so it's after school ;).

iGOAT

I think it does but not sure. Definitely would make sense though, because last year the final was a night match and V. Williams won and then played BJKCup the Monday after the tournament, so I doubt she played Sunday night and then that the next day.

hellas719
Feb 22nd, 2010, 02:18 AM
Yeah, I think you're right, because I remember watching Venus' SF which was a night match and I just got home from my friend's house and I went there straight from school so I had all my books with me :p

It was another GOAT Slovenian player, Andreja Klepac:tape:. Hercog is a bit better, she is a young gun and is coached by Agi's ex-coach Kuharszky, like Martic.
I hope Agi will reach the final with Venus and beat her. Her fans are so confident, like AGi didn't give her a bagel in RG:cool:

Feb 22nd, 2010, 10:54 AM
I think the draw is not so important for Ági. She is inconsistent. I think the stronger players don't want to play with her because she can be a danger, but weaker players like to play her as they have a chance. So I look forward only for the next match and hope :)

iGOAT
Feb 22nd, 2010, 11:54 PM
Yes! Ági beat Zahlavova 2-6, 6-1, 6-3 :woohoo: I left at 2-6, 2-1 (30-40) and I was scared, I'm so happy!!! Apparently, there was no drama at the end, and she ended it with an ace. That is so good :hearts: next up is either Parmentier or Voracova. I'd imagine Parmentier will win that one, but we'll see.

I think she'll probably be playing doubles tomorrow, but not sure.

Parmentier is leading Voracova 4-3 atm.

Ági is not going to play singles again tomorrow, but Dulkavay is playing Errani/Vinci fifth match from 12:30 on Court 1 tomorrow. I should be here, hope to see you all in the livescoring thread ;).

Ok, I'm now a bit worried, because it seemed, that her serve improved. But the DFs and the horrible serve statistics are back:o
But the second match is winnable too. So I still hope it was just a one match:silly:

Feb 23rd, 2010, 06:58 PM
phew Agi:yeah:.I guess the first match is always tough, and its the first match on clay this year,I am sure she will have time to improve:drive:
BTW are schedulers crazy?they put her at 3AM,it was clearly impossible to follow her:tears::mad:

Voracova won 7-6 (4), 7-6 (2) Parmentier led 5-3 in both sets, obviously Voracova is a fighter, not what Ági needs :tape:.

Or maybe Parmentier is a choker:p.I only saw Voracova once,it was against Linds at Wimbly in 07 or so.She lost 63 57 63 but she played pretty well.If I am not wrong, she has a strong serve, but I am not sure since Lindsay is a pathetic returner:lol:

iGOAT
Feb 24th, 2010, 02:58 AM
Dulkavay lost 6-3, 6-3  from the stats, Ági served horrendously, she better play better tomorrow.

I'm very disappointed, this team had done well before. IMO singles is more important, but Ági should put some focus on doubles, it has not been impressive, and she is good, she's won several titles :o.

Feb 24th, 2010, 02:59 AM

iGOAT
Feb 25th, 2010, 02:36 AM
Ági beat Voracova 7-5, 6-1 :woohoo::inlove:!!!

She again needed a warm-up set (basically) as she was down 5-2, but she then went on a tear, winning the next eight games (and the last ten points of the first set). She was broken once in the second set, but recovered quickly and nicely as she went on to win the three games afterwards. Sounds as if she played very well :hearts:.

Hercog is up next as she beat Cornet. Sounds as if the Slovene is playing pretty well, so hopefully Ági will be able to handle her first non-Czech of the week!

iGOAT
Feb 25th, 2010, 02:38 AM
So this will be the first meeting again when she plays Hercog. Hopefully Ági can keep up this streak of winning the first match ;).

Meanwhile, Errani and Vinci are playing their quarterfinal :sobbing: too bad Dulkavay lost :tears:.

iGOAT
Feb 25th, 2010, 11:27 AM
Ági-Hercog will be second match on Court 1. The match before them is Cuevas-Ferrer, that will probably be a long one. Depending how long Cuevas-Ferrer is, I should be here for at least the second half of it.

Okay, it's a left adductor strain. Thankfully, that doesn't sound too serious, I imagine she should be better by Indian Wells for sure.

I wonder if she will be able to play Monterrey though. Still  about this, it was a great opportunity to even win the title!
