Melanie looked like an amateur for set and half, Agnes played well, her backhand was really good but then it turned around, Mel had also some luck (saved a BP by net-coard winner at 4-4 in second I think and also at the start of the final set), she will probably lose to Dementieva if she's really cold and playing like that..

Great comeback from Oudin, helped by Szavay a bit. But Oudin just played better in the final two sets. I figured Szavay had this in the bag at 2-0 in the second. Nope.

She definitely has talent, and she's quite tenacious. She needs to work on that serve, though.

Melanie just doesn't quit. She looked like she was beaten after the first set, but recovered from 3-1 in the 2nd set and that would set the stage for an easy 3rd set victory. Oudin took a page out of the US Open today where she defeated 3 straight good Russian players. In all those matches Oudin lost the first set. Her best asset is her COURAGE.

Melanie fights right to the very end and this certainly makes her well worth supporting. I guess there must be a cold going round Paris (Szavay was blowing her nose constantly also).
