Yeah, I've read it here : http://www.lequipe.fr/Tennis/breves2010/20100210_224357_mauresmo-s-impose-a-l-emotion.html

I've tried to translate it by myself. :wavey:

When it deals with Amelie Mauresmo it's always all about emotion. When the GDF Suez tournament homages her, it's all about emotion, with videos of her joys and her sorrows presented to the whole stadium. "The absence is the worst pain". LaFontaine was right and a nostalgic wind blows in Coubertin. Since Amélie retired, the French tennis has become an orphan. The absence often enables to realize how huge is the gap and how great is a champion. In Coubertin, this wenesday night, when the champion arrived, Amélie was greeted with wild applause by a crowd brandishing little flags with the head of Amélie.

Like during her career, the emotion came as well as her humour. {Then a French actor said that the French was really involved during her career, and that when she won, the French feel they won too, and when she lost, it was a pain for all the french. Then Amélie rectified : "I know, I lose and we win" .

Speaking in French, Elena Dementieva came to homage Amélie with verve and very gracefully. :"I feel sad(...) As a human and as a player, you will always remain in our memory. There is a generation Mauresmo." In English, Francesca Schiavone was laudatory as regards Amélie and she finished her speech with a joke : "You were too strong, don't come back". A few minutes later, Amélie confirmed that a comeback couldn't be considered. "Today, I can say confidently that I won't comeback (smile), I'm just enjoying my time". As Boujenah said "her happiness is ours" And as Amélie said "no one can succed alone" and tonight Amélie Mauresmo was well accoumpanied.

I kind of believe Mauresmo wont come back. Justine said she would never come back and wished to delete her rankings but is back. But I think Amelie really goes.

Hope she enjoys her life as much as possible.

I didn't know Elena spoke french! you learn something new everyday.

Can't believe I'm the first to say it but Dechy does not look like she just had a baby - amazing!

Virginie has great hair - she should have grown it years ago!

I love the sincere way Amelie greets all the players. I'll miss her LOADS. How she handled herself at the AO '99 will stay with me.

Lena actually went to a special academy in Moscow specializing in foreign languages. (From what I gather, in the US it would be considered a "magnet" school and you would have to be a high-ranking student to be admitted).

Anyway, I know she's always been a big fan of Amelie's, so it's nice she got to say a few words.

The FO final ceremony 2003 (Myskina-Dementieva) contained a sophisticated speech of Elena in french language also, it was so perfect the crowd could not believe its ears. You know, Elena is just perfect in all kinds of ways. :worship: ;)

Nevertheless, I really liked this celebration, especially Franny who seems to be a very good hearted person. And all those tears went by ... heartbreaking.

Amélie thanks for all the great memories, it was the ultimate dream of mine to see you hold the Venus Rosewater dish above your head because I knew you had it in you and you finally did it. We, as fans, had our ups and downs following you as a player but never had any downs following you as a person. Thanks for bringing us together as a group because we all appreciated the great athletisim, talent, humour, honesty, humanitarian, emotion and all the other adjectives that have passed me by when describing the wonderful and only Amélie Mauresmo! Enjoy it all Amélie because you've earned it.

This ceremony looked really nice...kind words and respect from other players says alot about Amelie. She will surely be missed on and off the court. :)

Lena actually went to a special academy in Moscow specializing in foreign languages. (From what I gather, in the US it would be considered a "magnet" school and you would have to be a high-ranking student to be admitted).

It was not an academy, just a school.

Okay, in the US such a school might be called an academy or magnet. I know in Europe it has a different meaning. (One of my sons is in a US "academy" and the other is in a magnet).

Anyway, as you said in one of your more classic quotes, it's more evidence that "off-court, Elena is a very intelligent person." :haha:
