I have a feeling with a good draw (there aren't really good players in QD Nicole can meet), she should qualify, she could be more motivated as it's much bigger tournaments and she won't have to grab balls herself as there will be ballkids

how is it a shit tournament? it's one of the best challengers and NO, the QD shouldn't be out yet, it should be out after 6 pm local time and it's 1:29 pm local time at the moment and I guess we will have to wait much longer than until 7 pm because even WTA tournaments suck to put draws online on time..

I have right to say whatever I think. So if I said that ITF Midland is crappy tournament, I still think it. And I think that Nicole should play better tournaments than this. It's first seed is Hradecka 64 on WTA ranking list. This is all I'm gonna say about this subject.

I'm just surprised how noone (Nicole's fans) take this as an improvement from what she showed in Lutz, she obviously fought really hard so I would consider this a big improvement and we can maybe expect one or two wins in Memphis with a good draw.. she even showed emotions, that's important! so wake up, people and give her some time. If she wants it, she will get it! and I believe she will because she showed emotions and wanted to win, it's obvious she tanked that 25k in Lutz where there weren't even ballkids :spit:

Some news/articles:

Upsets, marathons take over Dow Classic

(...) On Wednesday, Rus needed six match points in the second-set tiebreak to oust former world No. 7 Nicole Vaidisova, 6-4, 7-6 (12-10).

Vaidisova struggled with her timing and showed her frustration after several unforced errors, suffering her 11th loss in her last 14 matches. (...)

http://www.connectmidmichigan.com/sports/story.aspx?id=414724

Three seeded players eliminated at DCTC

A day after seventh-seeded Monica Niculescu bowed out of the opening round at the Dow Corning Tennis Classic, three more seeds went down in their opening-round matches Wednesday.

Fortunately for 19-year-old Arantxa Rus of The Netherlands, she was not one of them.

Eighth-seeded Rus, who became the top-ranked junior player in the world in July of 2008, outlasted former world top-10 Nicole Vaidisova of the Czech Republic in an exhilarating 6-4, 7-6 (10) featured match on Stadium Court at the Midland Community Tennis Center.

Rus is one of only four seeded players remaining in the field.

Rus, who is making her first appearance in Midland, looked sharp and served well for most of the match in front of a large crowd, while Vaidisova was plagued by inconsistent play from beginning to end.

Still, Vaidisova was able to crank up her power game enough times to erase five match points before Rus finally put her away 12-10 in a second-set tiebreaker.

"I played a good match, but during the tiebreak for the second set, I was nervous. She (Vaidisova) played very good, too, so it was difficult," said Rus. " ... She's playing very fast, and it's difficult to play (against her)," Rus added. "You never know where the ball is coming."

Despite her inexperience, Rus looked like the more composed player, especially early in the match. She broke Vaidisova's serve to start the match, then held her own serve the rest of the set.

The second set was a different story, though, as the players traded four straight service breaks and eventually wound up tied 6-6. Vaidisova began the tiebreaker with a 4-2 lead, but Rus battled back to earn several match points.

Finally, on the sixth match point, Vaidisova -- a 2004 finalist at the DCTC -- committed her 49th unforced error to give Rus the victory.

Vaidisova had 22 winners to Rus's seven, but Rus committed only 22 unforced errors.

"She would play one game very good, but then she made a lot of mistakes again," Rus said of Vaidisova's inconsistency. "I was a little bit nervous (in the tiebreaker), but she was also playing some good points. After my (sixth) match point, I was very happy (to get the win)."

Not faring as well as Rus were second-seeded Vania King of Long Beach, Calif., fourth-seeded Katie O'Brien of Great Britain, and sixth-seeded Kristina Kucova of Slovakia. (...)

Btw has this been posted?

Dow Corning Tennis Classic has new and familiar faces in action this week

(...) Former world No. 7 Nicole Vaidisova also makes a return appearance to Midland. A semifinalist at both the Australian Open and French Open in the past, Vaidisova, now 20, was a finalist at Midland when she was just 14 and is the youngest women to ever win a USTA event.

She's now looking to play her best again after a break from tennis and some injury-plagued seasons.

"I wouldn't call it a comeback, but it's been a long, long journey," Vaidisova said. "I've had some injuries, but I still have the desire to play." (...)
