View Full Version : Hungarian Fed Cup Team Thread

Most other national forums have Fed Cup threads, so I think Hungary deserves one too :bounce:
This year, Hungary is in Europe/Africa Group 1. They were drawn into a group with Sweden, Latvia, and Denmark (Wozniacki may not play though). I think it's a great draw, as even without Agnes and Melinda, there is still a great chance. The team is Marosi, Kapros, Jani, and Susanyi for those of you who didn't know. Hungary's first match is tomorrow against Latvia :bounce:

Jani plays first today, as a second player, and Kapros next.

Marosi has a little injury :(

Too bad for Marosi, but Hungary should be fine against Denmark. Wozniacki is the only ranked player from Denmark  (there are others, but they aren't playing), so I expect a 2-1 win tomorrow as Jani should win her singles match, Kapros should lose to Wozniacki, and Hungary should win the doubles as Sweden beat Denmark 6-0 6-0 today, and Wozniacki was playing too so her partner must've been really bad :tape:

Good news about Katalin! Ok, the first part is bad, she had an injury, what was so serious, that she needed a surgery. She will come back next year with a protected ranking and she wants to play Fed cup. She even applied for the Hungarian team captain position! :bounce:

The winner of the captain 'contest' is László Keller and not Katalin.
He was Fed Cup captain around 1992 and now again.

The Hungarian forums are so empty, I hope it will change one week later.

Our group:

Pool D

Hungary
Romania
Latvia

We have a good chance here, Romania is a tough one, but Dulgheru and Niculescu aren't unbeatable for our girls. And I want finally my Agi-Timi dream doubles team

Wednesday I think:( Wednesday to Friday group matches and on Saturday the play-offs. Live stream , maybe Israel's matches and Wozniacki and Azarenka will be shown somewhere but usually we are happy to have even a live score. I guess we should wait until Paris indoors for stream.

Feb 3rd, 2011, 09:15 PM
Greta's got sick, played with fever. After withdraw Czink and Szavay, another bad luck for Hungary... :( Rus is her best form, it was a tough match anyway, but impossible to win against anybody with this handicap. I hope, she will be okay tomorrow, but I'll not wondering, if she do not play.
Krajicek was too much for Babos, this is not her level yet. And it won't be, if she don't work a lot with humble...

Krajicek was too much for Babos, this is not her level yet. And it won't be, if she don't work a lot with humble...

Why do you say this? What do you know about training of Timea Babos?

Netherlands - Hungary 3-0:
Michaëlla Krajicek (NED) d. Timea Babos (HUN) 6-2 6-3
Arantxa Rus (NED) d. Greta Arn (HUN) 6-2 6-3
Bertens/Hogenkamp (NED) d. Jani/Marosi (HUN) 2-6 6-2 6-2

:(:(:(

And yes, I wanted to ask the same question. As I heard Timi is training really hard with her new team

Guesswhoiam
Feb 3rd, 2011, 09:54 PM
I'm just afraid from that, she is too young to be a star, like her "environment" wants. She don't know, but she's not ready for this. Not yet. Yes, she's training hard, but if she belive - just for one minute - that she's the queen of the court, it will be not happy end. I do not say, it is a fact, I just do not want to see it happens.

Battiv
Feb 3rd, 2011, 10:17 PM
But the Group I of Fed Cup isn't a so high level competition, and it's confirmed by the two wins of Timea versus Latvia.
Right choice, in my opinion, not to make to play Timea in double, to save her for Romania.

Gregorio87
Feb 3rd, 2011, 10:36 PM
It's her team's duty to hype her, get some attention, some sponsors. She said in an interview, that she already feels the pressure. But it's necessary and she must get used to it :( Until she doesn't get a mysterious illness every time she has to train, I think we shouldn't worry...
