In Quebec now.
Her section is:

8)Sofia Arvidsson v Michaella Krajicek
Mirjana Lucic v Sorana Cirstea
Q v Marina Erakovic
Jill Craybas v (2)Aravane Rezai

Should do well here, its a weak enough field...so lets hope she can take advantage.

omg aravane:tape::tape:

I heard that she 's not working with patrick mouratoglou anymore because he tried to put " a tactical dimension" to aravane game
then she lost all her game.Being less relax on the court and came back to her silly ballbashing game.
I think she must stay away from the racket few days and get back to what made her play excellent tennis.

come back at beijing.

I guess I don't know what to say about these changes, it sucks that she's only been playing well for just a year and she's already having a crisis, it seems like the French girls can't play good forever, only for a small period of time.

Aravane is through to R2 in Tokyo. She just beat Hercog in straight sets 6-2 7-5 http://www.vvdrienerlo.nl/smileys/95.gif
Next up is Coco Vandeweghe, who surprisingly beat Zakopalova (probably tired after her recent final in Seoul) http://www.vvdrienerlo.nl/smileys/smile.gif

You're fast. :p

Good for Aravane.

I think she may have played this match indoors on one of the outer courts, which would have been to her benefit. She plays markedly better on indoor hardcourts as opposed to outdoor. Tomorrow, I'm not so sure about. Vandawhatever is tall and a huge server, so I hope Aravane can return well and bust her in the chops a few times.

Sharapova won 800 points for winning Tokyo last year. That's gone.

Also--Li Na loses 350 this week after her withdrawal. That dumps her down to 3170, which is where Aravane is at now, I believe.

So Aravane could move up at least three spots (depending on Peer's result) and maybe more if she can advance far enough. Regardless, the more points she banks this week and next, the better. Radwanska may tumble (1180 points to defend the next three events), Bartoli as well (700+).

As I predicted earlier this summer, Aravane is moving up the rankings. I had just hoped she would have been winning while doing it.

I don't really know how the system of points works (how many you gain, how many you lose....), I'm not too good at it, you're the expert there, I trust you http://www.vvdrienerlo.nl/smileys/tongue.gif

Well, I'm no expert, just desperate for some good news. :)

Actually, I think I forgot to subtract out Aravane's 60 points from tokyo last year, meaning she has 3110 right now, compared to Li Na's 3170, so she'd need to win a couple more rounds to get that spot. But the good news is, she's moving forward, and she has a chance in the next two weeks to crack the top 15.

It would be so GREAT if Aravane could keep up the winning strike and move up in the ranking.

She 's been very disappointed since that awful palermo loss against oprandi:tape::o

Vandeweghe has absolutly nothing to lose and surely had heard about capra's win against aravane at us open.
Hopefully our girl will be high motivated to play better there...

Tough period for Aravane these days, she really needs to regroup for the end of the season but I'm not sure she's motivated enough. She's maybe already concentrated on the next season http://www.vvdrienerlo.nl/smileys/70.gif

Aravane opens against a qualifier in Luxembourg R1. Could be good or bad depending on who, I guess. I hope she gets her head together this week. Her ranking should be up to #14 on Monday, ahead of Radwanska, and her game should be commensurate with that level, which it hasn't been lately. With points coming off at Bali, no matter if she wins it or not, she needs a good week.

On another issue, I need some suggestions for a hat for next March for Miami to show my French pride. I thought about something that would look like the French flag, but the only red-white-blue hats I found were "Yankee Doodle" USA hats, and now that I think about it, I don't think the French are that tacky. What do you think--beret? Some other type of hat? I need some French fashion tips.

Well that's funny you mentionned the "beret" as an american you have a very "old fashion" vision of the French
I can assure you that in France we dont wear particular things like that.
You can just wear a top in blue, the french soccer team are named "les bleus" since the victory of France in World Cup 1998. Since then the press name other national sport teams like that.
Aravane was wearing a special blue top during the fed cup tie in germany if I remember well.

That kind of blue you knowhttp://i.eurosport.fr/2010/04/25/601811-7383108-317-238.jpg

I was just reading at her site that Aravane's brother suffers from an illness and was not able to go with her during american and asian tour, this explains her problems lately.Sure her mind might not be 100% on court.

After asiatic tour, she went 10 days to Iran to make a break and didn't practise at all.

Also it says that she's now being coached by her father.

All this very worrying  Big  to Aravane. Not an easy moment for her.but we are here to support her in bad moments as well.

Didn't even read your post http://www.vvdrienerlo.nl/smileys/oops.gif Well, it can be an explanation indeed to her last results, Aravane's very close to her family so no wonder she's had some problems on the court, her mind just wasn't there http://www.vvdrienerlo.nl/smileys/sad.gif I hope everything's fine now, I'd love to see her finish on a high note in Bali http://www.vvdrienerlo.nl/smileys/smile.gif

don't know about high note,I'm quite scared of Bali :help: First she'll have pressure to defend her title and second she has already lost to Kleybanova in the past, and third her results as of late.

I don't want her to lose in the first round being defending champion  If anything, being back to the place where she played some brilliant tennis a year ago can hopefully help her find the good sensations. If that's the case, she's as much a contender as anyone else in the draw.I also like Alisa a lot and will feel sad whoever loses.Simply hate this draw

I expected it a bit but still had some hope that Aravane would put some good performance in Bali. And her brother and coach was here too. Alisa was just too strong today, Aravane didn't play that bad and just made more errors than her opponent.
The scoreline is tough 6-1 6-2 but the games were very tight. Come back strong in 2011 Aravane, enjoy your vacation http://www.vvdrienerlo.nl/smileys/smile.gif
