Gauteng means "place of gold" in Sotho, and is the new name of PWV.

Don't you count Cook and Niue any more then?

Kiwi_Boy
Oct 5th, 2002, 11:19 AM
no,we dont own them anymore(they got partial indipendance back in i think the 70's and 80's),although they are still nz citizens,nz only controls there foreighn relations, tokelaus the one we "own" :):):)

gmt
Oct 5th, 2002, 02:02 PM
It was 1965 for Cook and 1974 for Niue, if I recall correctly  But I thought that New Zealanders still regarded them as overseas territories.
How about Chatham? Is it a touristy place?

Kiwi_Boy
Oct 6th, 2002, 12:11 AM
omg you know alot:D
most people only know nuieans as immigrants and they veiw the cooks as a one stop tropical holiday(we dont need passports to visit:p ),and the chatham islands are wind swept, cold, hicksville, islands with nothing to do,hardly any one go's there.
(hmmmm are you reading a lonley planet:p :D )
:wavey: :D :D :wavey: ,in a way many people still veiw them as n.z and in some ways they are(n.z funding,n.z dollar,n.z.passports etc):)
we used to own samoa as well, but we were not the best colonists.:)
