 Marion must like the cake in Bali. 7 aces too!

Poor Kimiko  I wish they had been in the other sides of the semi finals. Good fight to avoid a bagel in the second, 5-0 MP down, and then she played amazing for those few games afterwards, she gave Marion a fright!

Love that court and crowd. And such a nice embrace at the net. :awww:

"Until 6-1 5-1 it was absolutely perfect", said Bartoli, who will hope to add to the titles she won earlier this year in Monterrey and Stanford. "Then Kimiko started to play really well. She was swinging freely and hitting some really great shots. It wasn’t my level going down, it was her playing too good. But I knew I just had to win one more game and that’s what I did.

" It was quite hard, even if I was leading 6-1 5-0. The games were quite tough and the level was not that big a difference. So i was really trying to play each ball with the best accuracy as possible and the best power as possible see how it goes."

Date Krumm admitted she hadn’t played well, but also that Bartoli was simply too good for her.

"I like this surface but I think she likes it more than me, and I think she likes my ball also, very flat," said Date Krumm. "If I can play with more spin I think she would have more trouble, but that’s not my tennis. In the beginning I tried to hit more angles, using the backhand slice and dropshot, but her ball is very deep so it’s difficult to hit them. And I made too many mistakes, and if I didn’t hit the right angle she could attack."

Kimiko :sobbing::hug:

Marion really overpowered her. Too many UEs too from Kimiko. Until a brief smart comeback at the end from 5-0 to 5-3 but it was too little too late.

Good luck Marion in the final! :worship:

The Indonesian crowd was so pro Kimiko

Too little too late. I'm glad at least Kimiko made a small comeback at the end. Kimiko can still hold her head up. She is playing top 50, perhaps even top 40, standard tennis right now. Unfortunately that doesn't get the job done when you opponent is playing top 10 standard tennis, but it's still mighty good when you are 39 years old. Still one more ITF left for Kimiko this year and I can't wait for next year. I think Kimiko can finish 2010 in the top 50, I really do.

They forgot to include aces in the stats.
Well done Marion! :yeah: She didn't have to play well today and it almost costed her the match. Date showed two faces, the first one was terrible as you could wonder why she was on the court, the second was inspired and brave. Serve was the key today! I just don't understand why Marion got tightened that much at the end.

so Marion is #10 right now?

I think so. She only needed to get to the final for #10, and if she wins #9. Not sure though.

From TBE's ranking update:

9 Vera Zvonareva RUS 3560
10 Agnieszka Radwanska POL 3450
11 Marion Bartoli FRA 420 3415
12 Flavia Pennetta ITA 3150

A win is worth 600 and she's No 9.

Marion :inlove: :hearts:

Now get the title and get back in the top 10! Makes it even more satisying that it's Zvonareva she would replace at no.9.

Impressive tournament from Kimiko to cap a good year. First she could not win matches on the WTA and now she has won a title and made the semis of a YEC tournament. Keep going Kimiko. :bounce:
