Due to unavailability of livestreams and videos :o, I haven't even seen the unique court clearly yet. But they posted this at WTA site:

EDIT:

Bali YEC's successor, Sofia YEC has a pretty unique court color as well!

I miss the tram lines :bigcry:

it looks like someone broke into the arena in the middle of the night and stole them.

Let me check ebay, they may be selling them.

Isn't the ball yellowish green? I don't think there would be any problem viewing the ball.

i believe he does...! I miss these types of courts, it's really fun to play on it. You get the feeling that the court is so small, but all the balls are in and after few minutes you don't see the difference. The most fun is when you're playing on "normal" courts after a while...they're so big!:worship:

The court is ugly. I just cannot stand courts without the tramlines. It makes a tennis court look so tiny. :o

Interesting, but (as someone else said) I think it would be difficult to see a yellow ball on an orange court. I think if they have this tournament next year they should either change the color of the court or change the color of the ball. Maybe they could use a blue ball on an orange court? That would definitely be different :)

No, it is not difficult to see the ball. I was thinking like you, but after watching two matches was forced to change that opinion. The ball is better seen than on some dark blue courts.

In pictures the court always looks orange but in TV it looks redish.

And yeah, the ball is very clear to see during matches on TV.

So what exactly is the surface? Its looks like Vinyl to me :spit:

it's boards upon which layers of rubber are painted, rather than a poured concrete surface at say the AO or USO for example. The concrete makes it bounce higher and the boards give a super low bounce.

it's more of a red colour IRL, its not really hard to see the ball at all.
