View Full Version : Kimiko into SF of Bali as Yanina is suspended?

Belgian newspaper De Morgen has a statement from Yanina's spokesperson.

TRANSLATION: "Yanina is not aware of the sentence (it's night in Bali) but she will not play tomorrow," says a devastated spokesperson Rudi Kuyl, who is sitting together with lawyer Johnny Maeschalk to see what further steps they will take. "That is all I want to say about this now."

So I think Vera will take Yanina's place against Anabel tomorrow. Even if Anabel win, by the h2h rule, Kimiko advances.

surely bali doesn't have the H2H rule, as with 3 players in a group playing 2 matches each, there cant be a 2 way tie only a 3way tie, in which sets decide the outcome.

im pretty sure kimiko will make the semi if vera beats AMG

But there won't be 3way tie if Yanina doesn't play. Only 2way tie between Kimiko and Anabel (given Anabel beat Vera).

a. Final Standings
The final standings of each group shall be determined by the first
of the following methods that apply:
i. Greatest number of wins;
ii. Greatest number of matches played; or
iii. Head-to-head results if only two (2) players are tied, or if three
(3) players are tied then:
(a) If three (3) players each have one (1) win, a player having
played less than all three (3) matches is automatically
eliminated and the player advancing to the single elimina-
tion competition is the winner of the match-up of the two
(2) players tied with 1-2 records; or
(b) Highest percentage of sets won; or
(c) Highest percentage of games won.

do the SFists get additional points?

No

So based on that Kimiko has qualified then?

But it's still possible when something like this happen or when one player withdrew because of injury.

WTA rulebook has same rules for Doha and Bali.

I'm not sure why the second part is not edited to talking about 1-1 head to heads, because 1-2 H2Hs are only relevant for Doha.
3a is a completely irrelevant clause anyway. Terribly written rulebook.

do the SFists get additional points?

Not if the player who got the "wc" for the SF loses; when she wins she will get F points (at least). She will get SF-paycheck though.
