This is going to be a hoot.

I bet the Italians are already licking their lips in the expectation of the epic beating they're going to deal to the hapless young Liberty Flowers in the clay abattoir they so lovingly set up for them.

Big Al is a bangless American version of Lena D. A whole different player at Fed Cup. I'm not saying the US will win, but it will be closer than people think.

Liberty Flower Glatch is one of the most amusing bad tennis players I have ever seen.

But I wouldn't put much faith in that Czech Rep. tie. She beat a limited player who can lose to anyone, and then one of the most notorious Fed Cup heroines of recent years, on a surface that magnified the effectiveness of her wonky game.

I wouldn't put much faith in this either BTW.

Additionally, both Liberty Flowers seem to be in rather poor form, at least judging by recent results.

Liberty Flower Oudin probably played on green clay in her y00f, so she may do somewhat better, but not by much.

I call blowout barring injury to one of Italy's front rankers, and you can do a ChrisCHorse and bookmark this to rub in my face later if something unexpected happens.

Oh dear.

The Italians must have some kind of sadistic mindset coming into this tie.

The Americans are so out-matched.

Glatch did beat Penetta 6-1 6-1 at the French Open so who knows what could happen.

People need to stop holding on to this useless match. Pennetta was injured pretty bad and then you have Alexa who isn't quite the same either.

Pushdin? She is not a pusher:smash:
Mel on clay = awkward.

Well, even though Big Al is a member of LOB, and she does elevate her game for Fed Cup, even I have to concede she starts at a much lower altitude than the Supreme Banged LOB Commander.

I still have faith in Glatch.

Then again, as we've previously discussed, I love Crusader tanks, too.

BTW, instead of Liberty Flowers, I'm going to suggest "Liberty Belles" after the old J.P. Sousa march (also the theme to Monty Python). And Georgian Oudin qualifies as a "Southern Belle."

And Georgian Oudin qualifies as a "Southern Belle."

The "Southern" part is accurate and undisputable. As for the rest...

I considered using "Dixie Flower" to label Oudin, but then I thought that it might be deemed un-PC in this place.

On paper the Italians should win. Since when are fed cup finals won on paper. If the Americans win it wouldn't be the first time they"ve surprised us this year.

Yes :spit: The Italian No.2 team of Garbin, MEC etc would probably defeat this American squad.

It just looks like a complete mismatch in every possible way. The Italians are playing the US on their favourite surface and on the American's worst surface, the Italian players have been in very good form and Glatch and Oudin have been struggling for wins in the past month or so and don't have a great red-clay pedigree. The Italians will have home advantage plus the Italian team boasts much more experience compared to a relatively inexperienced US team (with the exception of Huber).

Who would you have gone with, Uranium?

Well MJF was with them all week and knows who is playing best based off the trainings, so I trust in her, but I would have put in Vania both singles and have Alexa and Mel split the other. But that's based off the results and how they are playing since the USO. Mel and Alexa could have gotten better physically, so who knows:p

And Glatch is also way taller than Huber and Mary Jo, neither of whom are small.

I think Big Al may be rounding down if she's claiming 6'0.

The important thing is that she's packing heat.

Now if only Lena would pack some bangs.

No, I doubt that. Vania is a great doubles player. Anyways, Alexa hit with Liezel in the Czech Republic too.
