Has anyone ever tallied up how many times Stevenson has retired during a match? I'm sure it's close to 30 or 40 by now.

Wow Alex. :o

I wasn't a fan when she was doing well, she always troubled Jelena.

But I'm starting to pity her.

This is the 39th time she's retired during a match. Sure, she's struggled with injuries. But, most of the time, it feels like she just quits because she knows she's going to lose. If she's REALLY that beaten up physically, she should just retire and let someone else take her place in the draw.

The question is why should she have needed such a tough 3-set battle to beat a local wild card ranked 752? A wild card whose game she knows, having beaten her just last week? Let's face it, if players outside the top 700 are a problem for a player, maybe it's time for that player to realize her glory days (such as they were :tape:) are over and done.

After 10 retirements, players should be forced into a 3-month sabbatical.

I decided to look back at all her retirements as i was very curious as to why shes so notorious, 10 this year (25 losses), 5 in 08 (25 losses), 6 in 07 )23 losses), 5 in 06 (18 losses), 2 in 05 (9 losses), 5 in 04 (18 losses), 2 in 03 (27 losses), none in 02, 6 in 01 (25 losses), 2 in 00 (24 losses), and 1 in 99 (19 losses). A grand total of 43 retirements.

This must be the most permanent unsportsmanlike behaviour on the entire tour.

One has her hand incident, one has her "shove this ball down your throat" incident, one has her chronograph incident, but this stands above it all. What a constant disregard of her opponents.
