Sam group is a joke, Kimiko's group is not that easy with an incredible Wickmayer...Sabine should pass easily

I know right? :spit:

Doha with just 8 players used up all 2 alternates, I can't imagine Bali with 12 players having only 1 alternate.

Hum, I think you're right. :bigcry:
Shahar owns Marion and Magda isn't a piece of cake either. Couldn't she have Medina Garrigues instead?!

Group A is definitely the toughest group. Group C could be tricky for Wickmayer to get through, but Stosur and Lisicki should be expected to progress.

Good luck to Madga, Kimiko and Maria Jose :bounce:

I'm really pleased my three favs are all in separate groups. I hope at least one can make it through to the semis but even more would be very nice.

There are 12 players at this tournament. A LOT of people would care about at least 1 of those 12, so of course people will care about it.

It's not a too bad draw for Agnes. She definitely can beat MJMS. Hoping for a miracle against Stosur . Group A is the toughest, would be great if Magda could advance . Lisicki should reach the SF's.

Marion focuses on Bali since we won that title in Monterrey, don't worry she won't retire.

Agree with Group A, but C is the easiest group, followed by B..

Group A
Marion Bartoli [1]
Shahar Peer [7]
Magdalena Rybarikova [11]

Group B
Samantha Stosur [2]
Maria Jose Martinez Sanchez [6]
Agnes Szavay [9]

Group C
Yanina Wickmayer [3]
Anabel Medina Garrigues [5]
Kimiko Date Krumm [12/WC]

Group D
Sabine Lisicki [4/WC]
Melinda Czink [8]
Aravane Rezai [10]

I'm supporting all the top seeds to progress from their groups - Marion, Sam, Yanina and Sabine.

Marion definitely has the toughest - with Shahar no easy task.

MJMS, coming from a YEC doubles win high, has the potential to upset Sam. Szavay can produce outstanding play sometimes...

Yanina should have no problem. Sabine's threat is mainly Czink, who has had a great season.

Marion, Sammy, Kimiko and Melinda will advance.

surely they'll be in need of more than one alternate...? ;)

Nov 2nd, 2009, 11:01 AM
On the paper group A seems the toughest, hard to tell who will advance, they all could go through.
In group B I think its between Sam and MJMS. And group C and D winners should be the top seeds there (but I wouldn't mind if someone would surprise me there:devil:)

And hopefully they all are and stay healthy:)

Can Sam handle Maria Jose thats the big question. Marion has the hardest draw. Wickmayer could be on court for too long

They could barely find people to take the 2 WC's to play, what were the chances of finding a few more to sit as alternates? :p ;)

I don't think MJMS is a joke. She is on fire. She has shown this season that has many weapons. Ask Caroline Wozniacki

No, they just go with the next person to qualify under the ranking. Dushevina is the next person to qualify after Rybarikova.
