Maria-Justine was fantastic, but don't forget Monica-Martina in 2000. That was BRILLIANT!

Yeah the 2000 match was far and away the best tennis, best atmosphere (MSG!), best players... nothing else really compares, Henin/Sharapova isn't even close. But 80% of the board is way too young to recall a match from 2000...

2000 Hingis d. Seles by far :worship:

2003, Kim was on fire, she was playing so well, she was unbeatable this day.

It's crazy to me that this year was the first time Serena won a YEC Final  I'm particularly impressed that Kim managed to beat her in 2002 after the amazing year that Serena had :worship:

Seles vs Hingis was ignited by such a thrilling atmosphere. The hitting and rallies on display was at a very high level.

It's hard to understand why they promote Doha as such a step up from NYC. Grossly misinformed. Madison Square Garden makes tennis more than just a sport.

Justine vs Sharapova was good, but it wasn't sustained. Sharapova crumbled deep into that third set, and looked spent. The result looked inevitable to me as soon as Justine levelled the match.

Masha - Juju, one of the greatest matches ever, just fantastic.

Great match and drama, but I loved the Justine-Mauresmo match the year before. Both played attacking tennis, with hard hitting groundies and great net play. Why would anyone mention a match that never happened?

That was a great match too. Very much underrated. However the one at 2007 are pure drama to watch.

well overall it was 2005, pierce bt kim in a final set breaker, momo in 3 sets in the round robin, masha and davenport played a great match, pierce bt davenport 7-6, 7-6 with 40 winners to 10 ue's in the semi's and the final was epic.

2005 overall

2005 for the best final

2007 was overrated, many errors in that match. Honestly Justine did not deserve to win it and there were already signs that her game was declining.

My vote goes to 2000 Hingis def Seles.

Really close between 2000 and 2007 especially because the player I actually like won in 2000 :sobbing:

posters should state how long they have been following women's tennis, seems the majority would say 'since 2007'

i have been following since 1996 and out of that choice, 2000 is the best in terms of quality, drama, venue and spectator attendance

Mauresmo v Pierce.

I read somewhere that this match had around 100 winners in total. Can't remember where I read it but I'm sure it was from somewhere reputable as I otherwise wouldn't have paid attention to it.

2007 was the best. It had everything: the drama, and an amazing level of play. Both players on fire.

2002 was great as well. Kim played one of the best matches of her life to straight-set Serena who was in top form and in the middle of her Serena Slam then. She was also unbeatable during that 2003 final, Miami 2005-like. She's always played well at the YEC - bar the 2005 ones, when she'd lost all motivation after winning the US Open.

Add 2005 with this crazy match between Amelie & Mary.

Most YEC finals were actually very good in terms of level of play. ( @ the fools who picked this year's final.)

The best YEC-Final is 2005 Amélie vs. Mary. The all YEC in 2005 was great. Also the 2006 final was a good match (except the winner xD).
