Yeah Jelena! Excellent week for her, this was a tough tournament loaded with great players and she only dropped 1 set, I believe. Sweet revenge over Sofia from last week. This win here should put her at #57 in the rankings and hovering just outside the top 100 if she falls in the 1r of the Australian Open.

Here's to a full schedule in 2010, and if she can win these big ITF 100K events, there is no doubt in my mind that she can pick up some smaller WTA Tour titles as well.:D

I'm not worry about AO point anymore if she keep this form.
Is this her last tournament this year?

Maybe she should take a break and stop playing these ITFs every week at the end of the season so that she can actually play fresh and injury-free during the regular season. Congratulations for sweeping the 100ks though.

I disagree that she should pull out of this week's ITF. She still needs point -- the AO points are still about 40% of her total -- and another 50-70 points for reaching the final or winning would do her a lot of good.

There's still almost seven full weeks of downtime even if she plays this week - plenty of time to rest and be ready for Australia - so I say: capitalize on the momentum, build more points and confidence.

That makes it 14-1 in the last five weeks for Jelena with some really nice wins included in that spell. To be honest I was never convinced by Jelena's performance at the AO this year that she was ready to regain her place as a geniune force on the tour. Playing a couple of great matches with home crowd support in a huge atmosphere was all fine and dandy but hardly evidence that Dokic had what it took to do the hard slog of playing good consistent tennis through the course of an entire season in situations where the crowds would be far smaller and the immediate motivation and rewards for winning not nearly as great.

What Dokic has done this last 5 weeks however is a totally difference thing. Playing really solid professional tennis against quality calibre players over an extended period in non glamourous conditions is something Dokic hasn't done in well over six years. Until this month. Simply what Dokic has done this month impresses me hugely, far more than what she did at the Australian Open, and for the 1st time in many years, I can actually now see Dokic taking her place as a regular and highly competitive player on the tour next year. It might not happen, but I seriously wouldn't be shocked now if Dokic were to reach the top 30 next year and I'd even give her an outside chance to go further.

There is no question Dokic has been through a lot of shit over the last few years. And sometimes there have been times, perhaps given what has happened with her understandably, when she hasn't handled herself at all well professionally. In truth I never really saw her making it back as a regularly player on the tour. Too much water under the bridge and too much damage done, I thought. She still hasn't yet established herself as regular player at tour level either. But what she has done this last five weeks has earned her immense respect from me and I honestly think she has a better chance now at reestablishing herself as a force in the game than she has had for many many years. Good for her. :yeah:

Hopefully the Aussie crowds can boost her confidence in Brisbane and Sydney (and Melbourne, of course). After last year's AO, none of the top seeds would like to have here in their part of the draw for any tournament downunder.

I think she should withdraw from the next ITF tournament and rest up. Sounds like she has already.

She's been playing a lot in the last few months compared to the first half of the year. 1 final and 2 100K titles are probably enough for 'confidence-building'. As for points, she only needs them ASSUMING she is to lose in the AO opening round. Hopefully she can play some lead-up tour events and win a few matches at AO as well.

just brilliant :hearts: :inlove:

i have really always thought of dokic as a big time match player who will play well given she is playing, say, a dementieva (french open match which she would have won without a doubt), but not really excel in the lower tournaments and challengers against players like olaru (warsaw)... with her ranking rising the way it is, i think she will definitely play in more tour level events, hopefully premiers especially... but i'm happy whenever she wins :inlove: go jelena
