through to the semis with 2 wins: safina retired after 2 games, and she beat severely injured caro who couldnt serve over 70mph.

EDIT: damm i wanted caro to win their match :sobbing:

I don't know, Vesna Vulovic (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vesna_Vulovi%C4%87) gives her a run for her money.

She´s the luckiest bitch ever... 2 games against Sanowa, easy win against one legged and serveless Caro... she´ll get trashed by either Serena, Venus or Elena...

I agree, she´s the most undeserving YEC finalist of all time

Well, at least she'll be able to play in the semis!

This week things went right for JJ. But she's had a tough year after being YE #1 for 2008

sure she got lucky, but would rather have her qualify than safina or azarenka for sure!

She is lucky yes but that's not her fault, anyway by Jelena advancing, the matches should be higher quality, hopefully Vika wins now.
I am sorry but if Caro advances and plays the way she did today against someone like Serena I am sorry but that wont last more than 50 minutes. She had a good run, it will be good for her to rest and recover for next year.

Wozniacki wouldn't have much left for tomorrow anyway. Jelena did what she had to do. It's not her fault that Wozniacki failed to close out the second set against Vera. If she is to run into Serena, I'm sure she will have a lot more resistance than Caroline.

not her fault caro plays 30 tourneys a year then comes in burnt out with a hamstring injury. blame it on her opponents.

Vesna Vulović is a former Serbian flight attendant. She holds the world record, according to the Guinness Book of Records, for surviving the highest fall without a parachute: 10,160 meters.

If Caro is so great...she should have won her matches in straights.

Wozniacki is exhausted and injured. Yes JJ was lucky, probably the most fortunate player ever in this tournament but she still has to beat a Williams sister to reach the final. I

Yes, because she had two absolutely GOATish wins, and because she'd have such a great chance to put up a fight against Serena or Venus.

And now you people talk about luck? Of course that the luck-factor is always involved in everything (to a certain extent - sometimes more, sometimes less);: you can get a good-draw, a walk-over or you can injure yourself or just have a bad day. But when Jelena once commented that it takes luck to win a GS, everyone was all over her saying that no, luck never plays a role in winning a title. Well, make up your minds.
