It will be interesting to see how Jelena will play here, after winning one of the strongest ITF tournament and now having to step it down to 50k! Her smallest tournament since the 25k's last year:unsure: (And in the same time being only 3 places away from WTA MD)

Actually it is hardcourt.

Yes, it's an indoor hardcourt. I thought it was outdoors, but indoors should suit Jelena's game even more. :) Kerber, Arvidsson and Parmentier are her hardest opponents IMO.

NO NO NO! Danilo was supposed to make the thread, after the MD was released, and don't even get me started on the title! Jelena isn't going to win this tournament now. :sobbing:

She's playing this because even though she's ranked in the TOP 70, without her AO points she's outside the TOP 140. It may not make much difference to her ranking now, but it could do wonders for her situation post AO.

Not a lot but still 10 points less that she needs to worry about once the Australian Open comes. Honestly, I think playing all these ITF's is smart. Get a lot of matches before the year's end, then head to Australia and train hard. This will prep her well for Brisbane where she has practically no points to defend and hopefully this year she will play another event before the start of the Aussie Open. A good run at a warm-up tourney could help relieve the pressure of trying to defend those QF points.

:) Jelena, good to see her getting some consistency. Would be nice if she could win this tournament as well!

I believe Jelena still has a good chance to stay within the top 100 after her quarter final points come off. Knowing Jelena, she will probably try and play Brisbane and Sydney/Hobart(wildcard?) where she could get some easy points, then hopefully go on and atleast win a round or two at the Aussie Open.

Then we can stop worrying about her ranking :hearts:

hdfb
Oct 13th, 2009, 09:26 AM
If you took off Jelena's AO QF points right now, she'd have 443 pts which puts her at a rank of 140. Slap on 70 points for winning this 50k and it gives her a ranking of 125 after deducting AO points.

So it's going to make a big difference for whatever tournaments, be it WTA or ITF, Jelena plays over the next month.

I have to say that, just objectively, I can see why people are getting annoyed with some of us. When the result is available, it will be posted guys. Not knowing right away is one of the drawbacks of Jelena playing in ITFs. Hopefully, she won't have to do so for much longer. SO, I think it would be better if we all just accepted the fact that we will get her score as soon as somebody has it, and get over the fact that she ISN'T playing Moscow.
