Welcome to Prague another International event on OWTT. Zheng snapped her awful streak last week as she swiped the trophy in Budapest can she repeat that feat here in Prague? Safarova, Vaidisova & Benesova will all be looking to do well in front of their home crowd.
Congratulations to Cornet who wins her 5th career title. After an epic forst roun match, Cornet breezed through to the trophy without dropping another set, including an impressive win over Hantuchova in the semis and she bounces back up to #13. Finally a good week for Jankovic who has really slipped off the radar these last couple of seasons. Could this be the boost she needs?
Serena Williams from the United States of America asked the tour director, Chris Williams for a Wild Card in the Wimbledon tournament. The multiple Slam Champ is returning to competition after a year off and she looked forward to making her way back to top. Her request was denied in Wimbledon. Actually the Tour Director ignored the greatest player in OWTT history. Serena hold the number 1 spot for 38 Consecutive weeks and proved to be on her way back with a few some good results lately in Eastbourne and Prague. '' I feel it's so unfair for me and lower-ranked players to play qualies week after week. I mean this is hard for our body. I think OWTT Director shall think of giving Wildcards in the future, not only to players with amazing legacies, but also some new up and comer, so they can get some Main Draw Experience more often.'' Serena said she didnt mind not receiving a WC, but she was offended that Chris dared not answering back . ''I think OWTT needs a few improvements like this. OWTT remains an amazing tour and I think the Roadmap is amazing for players and tennis fans. Let's hope people get to know it more ;)''. Serena Williams will now be playing a run of American Tourneys and she looks forward to get a WC in one of these events. ''I think people in America would like to have me in the Main Draw.'' Serena is an amazing athletes who gives a lot of her time. Hopefully, the Tour Director will be taking individual requests into consideration nowadays.
At least Patty lost to the eventual finalist. :)

Thnaks for the article Ree, but I did reply to you in a tournament thread! :ras:
It's not "qualifying" - just R64 if you like - is fairest that the bottom ranked players hae to fight it out for a R32 spot!! Is the fairest way!

Yeah sorry just saw the reply :D. For me R64 or Quali is the same, because the fact is we 6 players always play each other. I'm not asking for WC's at every tournament, but maybe you could award some momentanous ones.. That's the way it is in real life you know some player have to play qualies because of the taken spot by the WC ;) Anyways, it's up to you. Just think About it ;)
