Report:

Today on centre court saw #1 Irina Khromacheva (RUS) and #4 Anna-Lena Friedsam (GER) facing each other. The Russian started off strong, leading 3-1, but had to watch the German girl taking the first set 4-6 by playing attacking tennis. The second set was the start of a real thriller. Friedsam served for the match at 4-5* and was close to victory, but Khromacheva showed some spirit and came back to win the set 7-5, mainly through her slowing style of play. In the final set the German girl was not affected by what happened in the previous one. She took control of the match and dictated the rallies against the 14 year old Russian, taking her to a 3-5 lead. At that point Anna-Lena got nervous and started to make lots of UE's. As a result, Irina Khromacheva got back into match, this eventually turned out into a 40-0 lead and 3 matchpoints at 6-5. Amazingly enough, Friedsam started to hit winner after winner and won 5 straight points so that a tiebreak had to decide the result. The Russian came in front, 3-1, but was not able to push through. Friedsam came alongside and got her first matchpoint at 4-6, which she took and therefore realized her spot in the final after 3,5 hours of play.

In the other match, Polina Vinogradova got back from a slow start getting her first matchpoint at 3-6 6-2 5-2. At that point Carli found her game again and totally got back into the match. In the tiebreak, the Russian held her nerves best, taking it 7-4. This match also took 3,5 hours. :lol: :help:
