Nice :) Losing that TB would've been a disaster.

May 28th, 2009, 11:53 AM
She led 6-4, 7-6, 8-7 and 9-8 in that tiebreak. If she'd lost.. :o.. I'm picturing a Mathilde Johansson type situation.

so happy and so good for aussie tennis...please please Sam and Jelena win too :) imagine 3 girls in round 3 :) omg too good

May 28th, 2009, 11:55 AM
 Go Julie! Jankovic next! Will be an excellent match.

May 28th, 2009, 11:55 AM
Great result for Jarka, her form coming into this tournament was a bit iffy.

No pressure on her for the rest of the tournament, hopefully she can put in a solid performance against Jelena.

Should get to see her on T.V as well :)...hopefully.

May 28th, 2009, 12:20 PM
So happy for you Jarmila!

May 28th, 2009, 12:31 PM
Good win for Jarka :D

May 28th, 2009, 12:35 PM
Julie :haha:

Great work by the Aussie. As someone else has already said, this is her first Grand Slam R32 since the 2006 US Open (where she lost to Safina). Considering her recent patchy form, this has been a great tournament for her...

Obviously it is almost an impossible task to beat Jankovic, but if she keeps focused and plays her best she can keep it close :)

An interesting 'rivalry' of sorts developing between Dokic and Groth for the 'Aussie' No.2 ranking. With this win Groth moves further ahead...

lol why do people call her Julie? Fred Stolle called her "Julie" before.

GO JARKA!!!!!!!!!!

Slovakia-born Australian Jarmila Groth tries to clear up some confusion as to who she is and why she represents different countries in the Grand Slams and WTA events: "The Grand Slam's go by their own rules. But because the WTA have different rules you have to provide a passport. They don't allow me to change to Australia until I show them that I have a passport, even if I'm a resident and they know me well enough to know. I think I've been kind of Australian since I moved there when I was 15. I'm going to become an Australian citizen this year or next year. I'm going to get the passport sooner or later no matter what as I actually married an Australian."
