Oh dear. Rybarikova was pretty terrible for most of the match and all Jelena had to do was be solid.

Good luck in the 3R Jelena :yeah:

Should have been a double breadsticks (JJ kinda stopped playing at 4-1 40-0 on Rybarikova's serve).Rybarikova then tried some things to come to the net (nice slice approaches)but too many ue.She was pretty terrible indeed.

Jelena seems relaxed :)

I rarely saw someone playing that bad like this girl did :tape:

Magda was completely useless from the baseline. Her progress seemingly has stalled, which is a pity as she is such a talented girl. She should be able to step it up on grass though.

Jelena played well. Only 8 UE to 19 winners.

I approve and so does Mr. Sanchez.

This match looked more like an excercise for JJ rather than real match :tape: Fugly to watch :o

Oh well, I guess it was just another day at the office for JJ

That too I suppose.

But it's not like she can play much better from the baseline than she did today with those horrible strokes of hers. Her stiff, ghastly BH reminds me of someone - Roddick? Or an even uglier version of Kookie's BH? She's one of those players who uses junk because she can't do much else (another example: Niculescu). I liked some of those old skool sliced approaches and net play, even though slice approach shots are no longer effective in today's game - let alone on red clay.

Step to Rybarikova's skills.

A big post of ChrisCHorse, which has been very amusing, must have been deleted.
He basically said, that whenever Corswandt critizes a players [like Dulgheru or Rybarikova], she goes on to take a title just a few weeks later. ;)

I put it where it belongs in the current Magda d Li thread. It was very careless of me that it turned up here to being with. (I didn't actually mean to bump this :o)

Just shows the huge differential on surfaces for Magda.

Ineffectual on clay. Effective on grass.

Maybe there should be a Corswandt vs. ChrisCHorse result thread in GM.

I saw this match. Magda was a mess but won me over as a fan. She was very funny just reacting to her own shots.

Navratilova was calling the match and damned Janko with faint praise.

She was more interested in Magda. She talked about why Rybarikova's game was going to translate well to grass.

Corswandt better criticize Ana now. Just before Wimbledon would be great.

Exactly, even though Magda didn't play very well against Jankovic there were still things there that folks like Martina Navratilova as well as posters I respect like you and LudwigDvorak could see that made them recognise this girl has real ability. But Corswandt was not able to see this. In truth he rarely does. Perhaps because it is easier to identify the flaws in a players skills than recognise their strengths.
