No thread yet?
Everybody seems to focus on Sharapova vs Petrova.

Well, congrats Domi! Excellent job

This has always bothered me why players who are stars at junior tournaments after turning into senior games never fulfill their potential  Kirsten is a typical example, as Weingartner was.

Bravo Dominika!

Expected Cibulkova has been a good pro for a few years now, Flipkens still hasn't been.

Bravo Dominika!

Because the most talented girls have their best results in junior tournaments when they're 14-16, players like Flipkens just stick to juniors till they're 18 as they're just not good enough to win in big pro tournaments.

Flipkens has too many holes in her game for me, although she has a variety of shots, that slice backhand of hers is just not penetrating enough.

I have seen her play a few times, and overall I'm not so impressed by her game although she can play some nice points, you can just tell that you're not looking at a top 50 player, she's just not steady enough, doesn't get enough balls back when it counts.

That was really a crap match. Errors all over the place from Kirsten.

I'm afraid the second round will always be the limit for Kirsten. :o

Kirsten was injured when she should be getting all the experience for a right transition from junior to pro; also, not all the games develop at the same time, some players have to be 20 yo to show the world a bit of what they can do and they are still learning; same for Kirsten but with the inconvinience of the injuries. I do think she can be top 50 but today she faced a very superior rival like Dominika:)
So congrats for the amazing match to Dominika and good luck for the future for Flipkens :)
