Yikes, Olaru won the match winning 74 points in the match, she produced 14 winners herself, so there remains 60 points, and she got 48 of those points because of the 48 unforced errors that Dokic produced!

Jelena just tried to hit a winner on every single ball. Olaru's few winners came from Dokic being slow. Nothing much else to say.

Jelena played a horrible match.
:sobbing:

Credit to Ioana, her abilities to keep the ball in court are impressive, but she's so annoying while serving :weirdo:

without Dokic one of the semifinalists will be either:
Georges, Olaru, Keothavong, Craybas/Gallovits :weirdo: in a Premier event :weirdo: omg :weirdo:

dokic has missed the biggest opportunity she will have this year, by far her worst loss of the year so far

cant she just pretend she is playing in front her of home crowd ALL THE TIME? ;)

so frustrating when we know what results she is capable of producing :(

Dokic is such a mean-spirited girl. When she's winning she's directing the hate at the opponent, when losing at herself. So, in cases like today it really backfires. That constant scowl of hers is really not pretty to watch. Sorry to Dokic fans, I'll try to miss her matches in the future.

WD Olaru for choosing the right strategy!

Thank God it's over.
Jelena... whatever I bet the interview will be like 'sometimes when you play bad you win, and sometimes when you play bad you lose' she became a specialist in such sentences.

Olaru reminded me of Pierce when serving and enjoying the time between points.

Well done Raluca. Welcome back to the top 100. :bounce:

Those who have watched Raluca play more than once know that she has a difficult time keeping the ball in play. She usually hits a lot of winners then makes the most retarded errors of life. Her match against Cirstea. She was completely dictating. Thank god she used her brain today.

Hmm, yeah whatever guys. As Natash said, Ioana does have weapons but I guess she changed it all up today/this week and just did what she had to do - Jelena has too many weapons for Ioana to go toe to toe with so she changed it up, it was a smart move. Y'all need to watch he rmore before you call her a pusher or whatever. Im sad for Jelena as I really thought she could have done well here but hopefully she'll bring it in front of a big crowd at FO, im sure they'll be cheering for her. :inlove:

But stop with the Ioana hate, yes she took long between points but there are people with daniela and others in their sig and NAdal, he is 50 times worse so just stop. :o

all this Olaru hate is really pathetic...

perhaps Olaru didn't realise she was taking so long between points, and if the stupid dumb umpire doesn't remind her then how is she to know?

blame the umpire, not Olaru. grow up, seriously.

just because Dokic lost, no need to be so bitter, it's unattractive

Jelena is always rushing so that's not better!!

That is actually true. SO MANY UEs Jelena. Come on already.

I am 95% sure that she *will* be better at RG. I believe she would have played better against Sharapova at R1 (I'm not talking about winning, just playing better and more consistent). It seems that she's better at the big matches or something.

Anyway, GO JELENA. Win RG.

mean spirited: having or characterized by a malicious or petty spirit.

Hardly the right word choice. She's just super sensitive, suffers from depression and gets really emotional. I wouldn't even call her dad mean-spirited--just paranoid and nutty.

I actually agree with you, but that's redundant if you can't win the "small" matches to get to the big ones/bigger stage. Being a top athlete means doing it when you have to, day-in-and-day-out - she hasn't at all since the AO.

I hope Jelena doesn't waste the chance of a higher ranking/more points/entry to tournaments this year, thanks to her AO performance. With the way this tournament is going this was a perfect opportunity for her.

Gosh, give ralu some credit!! Her court sense and defense was amazing! How many times did Dokic get a short ball she could attack & Ralu knew exactly where Dokic was going for? this obviously added pressure onto Dokic to go for an even better shot.

Ralu played a smart match, attacked when she could, defended when she should. Whoever said that Ralu has no weapons has yet to see her killer forehand angles :)

"Today I played a very, very weak and bad match. It was probably my worst match in 2 years. Now Roland Garros, I hope I'll play better there. I played a small number of matches on clay, it seems that I didn't make a good schedule for myself. Ihaven't decided yet whether I stay here and train or go to Paris. (...) Now 2 really important tournaments for me. (...) I would like to comeback to Warsaw, it's a nice place and good warm up for Paris. I'd like to be back next year."
according to sport.onet.pl

yeah her scheduling is just :weirdo: last year she'd play over and over on clay...
If she keeps playing like this shit in Paris I predict a 2:6 2:6 loss.

I'm fully with you on this one. If she really wants to be top again, she *has* to take care of these matches. But for her to be able to win these matches she needs consistency. And consistency most of the times, comes with high rate of play, which her clay season clearly lacked of. Well she already entered the 2 tournaments after RG, so I hope she plays them. It'll only do her good.

that's the attitude i meant in my previous post.

Oh come on, you actually thought that I wrote "Win RG" as a realistic target for Jelena? :p I meant something like "Have a good run" ;)

Sucks that she lost because this was such a huge opportunity to gain some major ranking points with a wide-open draw.

Dokic really needs to start to play more events. She was never and will never be somebody capable of taking 2-3 weeks off to train and have good results right away. She is a rhythm player and needs to get back into the beat of things. Oh and she should also enter doubles at every event she plays as it will give her more matches/wins under her bealt and help her get her rhythm quicker at events.

Hopefully she brings it at Roland Garros and can win a round or two!:speakles:

Horrible from Dokic. Looked like a junior out there, trying to finish each and every point in 2-3 shots. And it's not like she had any trouble hitting through Olaru when she found the range of her shots - which never seemed to happen for more than two points in a row.

Olaru is the Camille Pin of the Carpathians. Hits only genuine junk (BH slices, FH moonballs) or zero pace puffballs that land around the service line. Dokic struggled to handle this total lack of pace throughout. Olaru a clever pusher? Pushers rarely are clever. They just play their game. Sometimes it's enough to do the business, sometimes it isn't.

But what stuck to me the most was this: is there any other WTA player who takes so long between points (at least during her service games) as Olaru does? Or is this just an impression I got because of her unnervingly slow service motion?

Olaru doesn't play like that normally. Normally she's the inconsistent one, hitting winners and forcing the play. Her most recent match I saw was against Cirstea and Sorana wasn't playing passive at all. Olaru was being aggressive and made the plays.
