Another withdrawal due to back injury, a couple of seeds fall...

and suddenly Alona Bondarenko is the top player in her half of the table. :-/

Could end up being her versus Dokic in the semi.

True but we have no idea what kind of form Sharapova is in.

Mark my words!

So you can make fun of them later...

If Alona is mentally there, I think she will beat Sharapova. But you never know with Alona--she runs so hot and cold.

Dawson.

She's been in a warsaw final before, with a much tougher field too. She could easily do it again this year if she plays to her ability. If she plays like the brain dead error machine that we've seen most of this year however, she could crash out in round 2.

she has a great chance.

she has tournaments where i think man this girl is top 10 material, she fights like a dog, hits the forehand so beautifuly, the backhand can be solid as a rock.

then she has tournaments where she looks like she would rather be anywhere bar a tennis court.

i hope she puts her mind into this week big chance to walk away with a nice title, good money and good points.

I could see her beating Maria - she gave Maria fits last year in IW and Amelia Island, and that was with Maria on a hot streak and not out for almost a year.

That said, with how inconsistent Alona is, I wouldn't count on it.

Yeah, she can cause Maria a lot of trouble... but I want Dokic to win this whole tournament, I think she is capable of doing it, since the field is so weak...

Imagine if Maria wasn´t playing??? it would be like a tier IV or III :haha: :haha: or international whatever

Alona is my pick for the title, if she manages to show up like she did in Madrid. Although Maria's form is a factor.

Alona doesn't have the game and mental toughness to trouble top players :p
