I AM ... I watch both men & women & having Directv this year will make it alot of fun. So many matches to watch

There are 5 big stories going into this slam

1) Dinara appears to be in the best form to capture the French & her
1st slam. Will Dinara do it or cave in once again?

2) Will Sharapova pull off a huge upset & duplicate Serena's 2007 Aussie run?

3) What's wrong with Serena?

4) Will Jankovic & Ivanovic continue their 2009 mediocre play?

5) AND - sneeaking in 1 for the men - Has Roger & Novak found a weakness in the armor of Nadal?

Eh, not as much as usual (probably cuz Maria has no chance in hell to win). And RG is always my least favorite slam.

I'm more excited for the women's one. Even though Rafa is my fav and competition for him is building up he still is the front runner whereas literally anything can happen with the women. Half the top 8 seeds could lose in the 1st 3 rounds.

Opposite for Wimby though where any of the top 4 men + some others could win this year whereas the WS are pretty much the only likely contenders.

I enjoy upsets, that's just how I am. And I am almost always happy when someone new wins a Slam. I also love it when players have a big breakthrough during a Slam. This tournament, at least on the women's side, appears to promise all of the above and lots of it. So of course I am hyped bigtime. :rocker:

I LOVE the French Open, and can't wait. I just wish so many good clay players weren't sick or injured.

Uh you forgot one of the best scenarios out there. Venus winning it, Dinara maybe crashing out and Vee finally regains the #1 rank after her 6 year absence :)

not really, I'm just happy that a slam is about to be played...

...I hate the day in, day out over analysis of non-Slams, so to the extent that the real stuff is coming, that's good...

...but Wimbledon makes the heart race, since I was a little kid in the70's.

That said, by the second week of the French, I'm sure I'll be hyped. :)

Didn't really think this was a story since there's no evidence Venus can win RG

No, there's not that much major television coverage in the US and the tennis is usually low quality.

Really?

The French is the only slam where we have coverage from the opening point to the last match. I like the French. The TTC doesn't suck during the French.

In Australia and Flushing Meadows, we get cutoff between the day and night sessions and in Wimbledon, we start after play begins during the second week.

I think Serena will play badly, so I'm not really that excited. I want to see Nadal beat Fed in the Men's final again though. That never gets old.

Rafael Nadal
Roger Federer
Novak Djokovic
Yes I love watching the men on clay. With those three you see everything.
Just great tennis. Perhaps the greatest tennis ever.
The women its a wide open field. And I dont think they are anywhere the level of Justin Hennin on clay. In othe words the quality of women's tennis is not the greatest ever.
However it will be challenging to pick the favorites.
Its actually quite tough to pick the conternders. Anyone seems to be quite capable of loosing early.
Safina has shown the most consistency recently.
Kuznetsova never count her out or as the favorite.
Dementieva will she get the form from the beginning of the year back.

Zvonareva (is she still injured? sorry for not being up on her condition)
Azarenka
Jankovic
V. Williams

Wozniacki
Ivanovic
Petrova
Sharapova
the women's field full of good players, no great players, like the men

No, there's not that much major television coverage in the US and the tennis is usually low quality.

Check your listing ... Tennis Channel is carrying it & on their website as well. To the people that have Directv, you get to see pick whatever matches you wanna see on 6 different channels
