Don't know if it's been posted, but it's official now.

"I really wanted to play here in Warsaw. I know I have a lot of polish fans but I have had this back injury for two weeks – stated a disappointed Caroline during today’s press conference. – The physiotherapist told me that if I want to be able to accomplish anything at the French Open I have to take a break so that my condition does not get any worse."

Good decision Caroline

So Radwanska, Lisicki and Wozniacki withdraw from an already lackluster field :tape: I think Sharapova might just take the title

My 90yo commenator will be sad that Poles from Denmark and Germany (that's how he calls them all the time :sobbing: ) won't play :(

wow, absolutely ridiculous. Lisicki ill (), Wozniacki tired, Radwanska greedy... I hope Maria won't retire in 1st round...

Unless Sharapova wins the title the tournament's champion should get 280 pts.

Seems like MaSha will have an easy second round opponent...

Well there's the good part that she won't play YET another tournament, and the bad part that we lose the opportunity of a nice match vs Sharapova.

On a side note: Soreness on her back. That means that if she was fully fit, she would have played. Again. Gah, wow.

Good decision to w/d by Caroline as she has had a good clay season.

She wouldn't hurt her chances at the FO, especially since it is more prestigious than Warsaw...

I bet she decided to w/d after she saw a draw.

Good decision. Playing 8 consecutive WTA events would just be ludicrous! Caro plays much too smart of a schedule to do that!

Maybe it's smart by Caroline, but why do she enter and then withdraw??? Radwanska did the same.... It's unprofessional when you know that you will not gonna to play but still enter a tournament...

lol

come on, players announce their starts in tournaments at the beginning of the year, and Caroline didn't expect so good performance in Madrid like she did, even more because Poland is Caro's second native land so it's natural she wanted to play in Warsaw so much.

Her decision is right but still I hope and I'm pretty sure she'll come to play in Poland next year;)

Plus she's had problems with her back for the past few weeks (you can't plan for things like that). French Open is a big priority and it's important that she's 100% for that tournament.

Having played 28 tournaments in the last 52 weeks, it's very unfortunate that Caroline is injured for the one that is held in her parental homeland. She's probably quite disappointed to miss it.

Maybe she's crying right now on Nando's shoulder? http://www.murraysworld.com/forum/Smileys/default/icon_cry.gif (http://javascript:void(0))
