Monday report ---> post n# 21

Hey guys ! Some of you may remember my 2008 Strasbourg report : http://tennisforum.com/showthread.php?t=342759

So since you guys seemed to apprectiate it I've decided to write another report this year!

First, I came at noon, matches had not begun yet, but many players were training.

I first watched Anabel who was hiting the ball with Bammer. Both girls appeared a bit tired IMO, Anabel felt she was playing average. Then they played a set and Bammer won it something like 6/3.

When they finished I came closer and talked to them a bit ; they were very nice at me, I took some pictures :

http://img190.imageshack.us/img190/265/pic0212.jpg (http://img190.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pic0212.jpg)

Then I saw Anna Lena Gronefeld training with other german girls. She was concentrated and I felt she was clever, that is to say she was not hiting the ball as hard as she could, she even surprised me with some cross court shots. She was one of the nicest player I met today, she was smiling, we talked a bit on the draw, and I took a photo with her :
http://img20.imageshack.us/img20/9278/pic0210.jpg (http://img20.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pic0210.jpg)

Then I watched the end Of Niculescu's match before the rain interruption. She played average, her unranked opponent was not a threat even if she led *3/1 in the first set. Niculescu became mad when the play had to stopped at 6/4 5/2* 40/0 2nd serve ! I talked to her in romanian (because I speak a bit romanian) and She seemed annoyed but smiled at me though :)

Then I met Vesnina! What a lady :hearts: Such a beautiful body ! ... Well okay we deal with tennis here .
She trained with her trainer, she was playing well, serving well. I bet she'll go far in this tournament. Then I took a photo with her, her sparing parter was taking the photo, he was joking and he looked to my camera like : "Oh ! Ugly!" lol And I said something maybe unsayable ! "Oh it must be she the ugly one!" And she looked at me like OMG and then laughed! That was funny !
http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/9201/pic0215.jpg (http://img40.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pic0215.jpg)
http://img193.imageshack.us/img193/4253/pic0209.jpg (http://img193.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pic0209.jpg)

And the best moment occured for me then : I met my Idol lol Aravane Rezaï. I was on cloud nine, and I didn't felt from it when I talked to her : she is such a simple person we talked like we were already friends, that was so nice ! She saw I had a camera and asked her brother to took us. But before she was looking around her, I didn't get what she was doing, and then she said : "Oh this bush looks beautiful ! Let's take a foto with it in the font !" She was lovely ! :hearts:
Then she came to the training court and played football with her brother, Mara, Tamarine. That was nice too ! They enjoy playing like children. Tamarine was on fire! Gronefeld who was training next to the court was like "What's going here!"

http://img196.imageshack.us/img196/8720/pic0214.jpg (http://img196.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pic0214.jpg)

And finnaly it rained again, And I decided to go home since the sky was very dark.
Therefore, I spent a very plaisant day ! I will return tomorrow if Aravane plays. Otherwise I'll go on Wenesday and for the Final ! :)

I hope you did enjoy my report ! :)
See you soon !! :D

Ps : I look awful on all pics, but I thought you would like to see the players... And by the way the glasses I am wearing are Beyoncé's (she threw it during her concert in Strasbourg and I am the lucky guy who got it! :p)

Hey :)
So first of all i want to say that I'm officialy in love with Aravane (you will understand further why!)

I went today again to watch the first main draw matches. While yesterday, I was more interested in watching players training, today I gave more attention to watching matches.

The first one I saw was Peng's. She was not concentrated in the first set which explains why she lost it, but then she easily recovered and seemed determined enough to win the matche. Her forehand is very nice, she was hiting lots of winners with it. Then occured a cute moment : Glach ball seemed to be out, Shuaï was sure it was out. The empire checked, and said something to Peng who got mad, but she misunderstood. The empire was puting up his finger, but she didn't see it and got mad. When she realised that the empire was showing the ball was indeed out, she was embarassed, and apologized... she was cute !! :hearts: She laughed like a little girl! lol

I'm happy she managed to play here in Strasbourg despite her recent problems of stolen passport ... :tape:

I've hesitated a lot before posting the photo since I look (again :o) so ugly ! :tape: lol But My report would have been photoless then ^^ :
http://img527.imageshack.us/img527/8676/pic0220.jpg (http://img527.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pic0220.jpg)

Here are photos with Tanasugarn and Kutuzova :

http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/6822/pic0219.jpg (http://img141.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pic0219.jpg)

And Vesnina doing some exercice :hearts: No I'm not a pervert ^^

http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/3815/pic0207.jpg (http://img219.imageshack.us/my.php?image=pic0207.jpg)

Then I watch Dulko/Santangelo. The Argentinian player was clearly better today than her italian oponent. It was just a matter of how many games she would lose. But When she was to win the match she played bad, but managed to win the match in the tie break.
So I just told you I'm in love with Aravane hehe Here is the reason : During Dulko's match I was watching in the bench like everyone, and she came to watch the game too. She was sitting like 10 seats next to me. I didn't want to disturb her but apparently she was pleased to see me again : she saw me, recognised me, smiled me, nodded to me, AND told to come! So I seated with her and her brother, and we talked about an hour, it was GREAT! She was friendly, we talked about everything : the Tour (some bombshell stuff^^ but I can't say much sorry!), her career, her financial situation ... etc They told me personal things, I was touched. I really admire her determination and her courage.

Then we had to stop talking because she was about to begin her match against Bammer and needed a little pre-match preparation!

Then she played an extraordinary match ! She was in control, and she pleased me with some unbelievable winners !
her serve was also very effective ! She didn't have to face a single breakpoint ! She was on fire today ! I was not screeming like a hysterical fan! I felt more to support her like a friend. Before serving for the match , she looked at me while I was clenching my fist! I loved that moment, I felt very fortunate!

Then she won the match 6/2 6/2.

We met a last time after her matche, she told me she was pleased, relax, and is very confident for the rest of the tournament ! And I am confident too ! I bet a final : Vesnina/Rezai ! We'll see! :)

Well, that's all for today ! I hope you enjoyed reading my report, it's always a pleasure for me to share my excitment :)

I'll probably go there again on Thursday !

See you ! :wavey::)

Did you see Kutuzova-Sevastova match?

I suppose Kutuzova is a perfectionist girl, since as soon as she miss a shot she yelled.
the quality of the match was average, both had some good moments, but they didn't really played well together.

Most of the times, a sum up of post match reaction can be found in "Articles" : http://www.internationaux-strasbourg.fr/

Of course, it is in French, but you can use google translation : http://translate.google.fr/translate_t?hl=fr#

Hi Lighter, yep, thanks for that. I've read the short comments on teh homepage, but I was just keen to know if there was anything more interesting in the audio links for each of the players? It depends on the player :
- Nathalie Dechy is very disappointed like Claire Feuerstein. Really emotionnal reactions.
- As usual, Julie explains that she tries to catch everything she can. She knows that today she's top 100, but tomorrow.....
- Pauline explains that she lead like many times. But this time she wins even her opponent went on fighting. She said that there is two options : first, I become crazy, second, i try to keep my mind in a good direction.

Very much appreciated, thanks. Did Julie Coin saying anything of interest? The most funniest thing she said is written. "last year, i was in middle of nowwhere in Italy playing a 25k$, and this year I'm in Strasbourg, a big tournament, playing on central court under a blue sky".
She also said that " if i played in Ukrainia, I would have played on court 12. When in Strasbourg I played on central court".

She doesn't understand why her serve was so week today. But she found good sensations on clay, sliding and playing well.

Hi LIghter [or anyone]

Many thanks
- Aravane : the first 2 games hard, feeling that she wanted to fight, mtch after match, opponents better and better.
- Julie : good 1st set, too slow during 2nd set, fight 3rd set but no energy, bad sleep last night, don't know if it is the explanation, now time to play RG
- Pauline : bad start, no rythming, disappointed and frustated due to 2nd set points, ready to play 3rd set, tries to gain confidence
- Stéphanie F : Good start. opponent more agressive, many aces from her, difficult to break, good feelings before RG
- Stéphanie CA : doesn't understand how she saved MP's, especially one, was in Strasbourg first of all to test her knee before RG
