Poland has a good crop of juniors coming up at the moment, will be interesting to see how many are in the Top100 along with the Radwanska sisters in a few years.

To answer some questions about Savchuk: I watched her in Charleston and she just has terrible form and not much of an idea of what to do on the tennis court. Her strokes look like they are just asking to break down and she has quite poor footwork.

Very good win, even though Olga is in the poorest form ever.

This reminds me of when Aga beat Myskina in Warsaw some years ago, her break through tournament.

I know that Myskina > Savchuk, but this is still an impressive win for this girl.

Paula :yeah: Really well and smartly (if i may say so) played

I liked the match, Olga wasn't even playing so badly (well, she missed a few shots she shouldn't have :p), but Paula played really good as for her low ranking, hitting winners and reducing the nr of UE's (besides part of the 2nd set), she hit a few really good dropshots and passing shots :) Overall the match was pretty even, but Kania was a deserved winner :)

Kania means Kite in english  (the kind of the bird). She defeated Sarah Gronert on ITF a week ago and was close to beat Iveta Gerlova (5:7 in the third set) so she's not that worst player. :)

Actually the win over Sarah Gronert, who has had some good results this year, impresses me more than this win against Savchuk. Clearly something is very seriously wrong with Savchuk this year. I hope whatever it is, whether it is physical, emotional, mental or technical, that it is sorted out soon.

Still glad to see that Paula was able to make the most of a good opportunity in the 1st qualifying round. I hope she continues to make progress and we see more of her on the tour in the future.

She's definitely not a power hitter. :D She has this tennis smartness and fantasy which helps her to be on the good place and time on the court. That's why I like the girl more than other polish juniors (e.g. Zaniewska, Nalborska who lost yesterday). :)

Well done Paula! :clap2: Indeed she's not a powerful player, but really smart which is good to see for a 16yo girl. She didn't seem to be nervous closing out this match, but then again Sawczuk just wanted to get outta there and it started to really pour down. :o

For me this sounds as pure joy. I hope to hear more about her in the future.
