The roof shadow on Madrid's court is the most annoying ever. You miss 1/3 of the action there. Complete darkness on the bottom of the screen :weirdo:

Looks like Mauresmo is out there playing alone and the ball comes back misteriously

Sometimes you get to see a bit of Agi's head when returning a second serve or something :help:

I thought you were talking about Halle Berry LMAO

I know right. :o I would imagine it would be difficult for the players as well. Trying to keep your eye on the ball when it is going in and out of shadow is a bit tricky.

Mind you, winter's sun in Spain is even brighter than the one in this picture so you can get an idea about the contrast of the shiny red clay court under the strong sun now and the absolute darkness in the shadows :help:

Well then, Tiriac and Santana should just forget that crazy plan about blue clay. Instead, just add some day-glo dust to the clay and turn night into day. Maybe then we'll get to see Nadal really go ballastic in a presser.

I totally agree. I made a similar comment in another thread yesterday. Here's how it looks on my screen (see if you can spot Amélie at the bottom ):

The worst part is that this shadow pretty much stays there the entire afternoon.

The sun light can be seen passing by the baseline now already.:p

Altitude, scheduling, sexpot ballgirls, over-commercialism, blue clay, --- and now roof shadows. So many reasons to dislike Madrid.

LOL guys, it's not that dark in the shadows, it just looks darker because of tv contrast screen, on my hd tv it's not that dark :rolls:

The most annoying is the US Open's Grandstand court :o

Unfortunately I have to agree

You can add the ghetto neighbourhood where the tournament is located, the unfinished facilities, the complaints from the players :help:

I actually hate the stadium with a claycourt.

A grey hardcourt would be much more suited to the dull metal railings and empty seats. Such a cold atmosphere.

the british player anne keothavong said that it still looked like a building site when she got there.

The architects must should be shot for creating that "Magic Box".

Amélie said to Hugo her coach after losing the first set that she wasn't coming into the net because she couldn't see the ball with the contrast in light in the stadium...she got pretty pissed off about it...seemed to work tho :D

Yeah, I thought so from the first time I saw it at the start of the week. What were they thinking?! A third of the court in shadow at midday?!

I know right. :o I would imagine it would be difficult for the players as well. Trying to keep your eye on the ball when it is going in and out of shadow is a bit tricky.

See comment below about Amélie getting pissed. It's especially interesting to hear that from her in the candid changeover talk with Hugo, because she's always so diplomatic/professional in interviews. Wow, she was pissed!

I volunteer for the firing squad. ;)

This "magic box" is really horrible. I don't get why this is magic, and I find the idea of a "box" really stupid

As long as Amélie, Jelena Jankovic or Patty wins the whole tournament everything will be fine for me

Well if it's really the "magic box," maybe someone can concoct some mumbo-jumbo and make it all disappear. Presto, no?
