I've just realised that a Madrid doubles champion this week will get more money than the singles champion of Premier Stuttgart, two weeks ago.
The doubles chapions of Madrid get €196,000 (€98,000 each, which means approx. $133,000). The singles champion of Stuttgart (Kuznetsova, who beat world #1 in the final and world #3 in the semifinal) got $107,000.
Fair, surpring? :wavey:

Of course it's fair, they work just as hard for that money.

What is not so fair about it?
It's different events, different Sponsors, different venue, different money making capabilities.......
Sometimes people are so Square!!!

These days, most Doubles matches are over in 1h15 max.
In front of 10 people on court 5, including coaches and mothers.
I never understood how the tournaments accept/afford to pay so much money.
I guess without the Doubles's money, a lot of players wouldn't be able to make a living.

Interesting... but doubles means NOTHING in the WTA! A player will be remembered by her single success, not doubles
So it´s unfair that a premier champion who beat the number 1 receive less money than a doubles specialist... but at least, Sveta got a Porsche!!!!
