If Safarova can keep her strong balls in the court, not in the crowd, she can beat in straight sets
If the errors creep in, then Safina in 2!

I like them both. But Lucie needs a big breakthrough. :awww:

Maybe this will be it? :D

Safina defends like an elastic wall and can frustrate Lucie easily.

I just hope it's a good match and, for the sake of peaking too early, I hope Safarova can come out the victor.

Sorry but Dinara should finish this off in routine fashion. 6-4 6-3 or something like it. Lucie still has a case of Berdychitis that hampers her. That and Safina loves red clay for whatever reason...

Safarova is just too erratic to threaten top players these days. Back in 2007 at least she could string together a few good shots in court but right now :tape: Safina in straights, 6-2 6-3, unless Safarova has a really really good day.

She's improved LEAPS AND BOUNDS over last year.

i never see her play, can you explain whats she changed to make herself better?

and why did she start sucking after 2007? it was a long injury last year right?

have you been watching lucie at all this year

her year so fair is fairly similar to her middle part of 2007 IMO, and she is definitely out of her slump

that said, safina should win this, but it's not a definite i don't think

I reeeealllyyyy hope lucie can win :sobbing:

I love Lucie a lot. And yes I have seen her this year. I was rooting all the way for her against Venus in Rome, but what I saw doesn't bode well for this match at all. Lucie has the game to blow anyone off the court, Wimbledon champions and challenger rookies alike. Unfortunately, I saw her hit a few good shots against Venus only to miss the easiest of putaways, time and again. It's like she's magnetically attracted to hitting only to the lines and there're only that many times you can make it in a match.

That said, Lucie FTW!!!!! :hearts:

I think Safina must be a bit tired. But the fact that she beat Na Li yesterday suggests that she is not so tired that she is not up for another week of winning matches. Safarova is in with a chance if Safina plays substantially below what she has done the last couple of weeks. That could happen. But I don't think it's likely. I expect Safina to win in 2.

Safina dances with fire and comes out of it alive. You never know what to expect from Safina, but that's one reason she's so lovable... :)
