Would it be the biggest, uberest, shock of all time? I say yes.

Anyway I am sticking to my shock prediction of Agnes Szavay. This is how I will bet my $100:

$25 on Szavay - shocking victory
$25 on Lisicki - uber shocking victory
$50 on Azarenka - a realistic bet, just because she is worth rooting for

Oh no she won't.:p
But who knows. Since Ju's gone, no one can be dominant on clay like she was.
So you'll never know what's to expect.:)

Not going to happen.

If you feel the urge to bet your money on such odd dark horses, bet it on Carla "Pete" Suarez-Navarro.

ah, i see, the bandwagon is in full force ;)

anyway, i think szavay winning would be more of a shock than lisicki winning. but i'd certainly love to see that.

 I wouldn't be that surprised.

With all the talk of the rankings being rubbish / in the wrong order, I'd like RG and WB to at least go some way into settling things a bit more. Some shocks are great, but I wouldn't like a massive shock of a winner.

Also hope Vera Z makes it there :(

She will get a big check, a lot of rankings points, a trophy, and possibly a few nice endorsement deals.

That's what will happen. Some of these questions are really easy!

She can win some big trophys, but I don´t think that it will be that early ;).

It seems ver unlikely, but as a fan of Sabine it would be nice to win. The effects would be:
-She gets $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
-Endorsements
-Media Attention
-A Trophy
-A better ranking
-Tennis in Germany will become very popular

Here is how I am betting my $100:

$26: Clone fusion of sheep-Justine Henin
$24: Agnes Szavay
$23: Clone fusion of alligator and Chris Evert
$22: Venus Williams
$3: Penus Williams (or, if Penus isn't allowed to play, then the ghost of Suzanne Lenglen)
$1.01: Brie Whitehead
99 cents: Lateefa Brown.

This thread is already the 09 version of "I predict: Alize Cornet -- Roland Garros 2008." :hearts::kiss:

Aww. That has to be an all-time peak moment. I like all three though. I wish there were more WTF results in the late stages of major tournaments.

She is cleary a dark horse after Charleston.

Temperenka
Apr 19th, 2009, 09:19 PM
No more than a dark horse. Her making the quarterfinals would be shocking. She will make her move, but not yet.

bobbynorwich
Apr 19th, 2009, 09:55 PM
That would be a big ask, only got to the 2r last year. She says clay is not her favorite surface, although it seems to suit her. They'll be lots of attention and some pressure on her, so the emotional burden may make it even tougher. It'll be interesting.

I can't see Sabine winning. Maybe with a good draw she could reach the Round of 16 or Quarter. Who knows? Its exciting to see where she will reach in her next tournament.

I don't think she has it mentally. She almost choked today and this was nothing compared to RG. I hope she does well in the future though ;)

She had some difficulty closing out, but who doesn't struggle closing out on their first title. The only other time she contended for a title, she lost in a 3rd set tie-break. I'm not saying she's going to win Roland Garros, but she sure does have a very important trait that is lacking in today's game... a winning attitude.

I have seen her playing at red clay and she did not have the game to win the french open with all respect to her fans.

Of course the pathetic bandwagoning threads inevitably had to start. She'll probably make it to the third or fourth round at best.

Wasn't Venus supposed to win the French this year? Oh no, wait, Azarenka was.

lisicki had her big tournament.
I dont see a big upside.
I like her personality.
I hope i am wrong.

Sally Todd

I don't see the harm in these kinds of threads. They're just about entertaining a wild possibility. Usually it makes for some funny posts, and the Bartoli thread is Legend.

There can at least be little doubt that the French is wide open this year. I'd be very surprised if there's a strong favorite going into the tournament.
