Dominika ... I am hoping the recent pattern is not career ending... too much bulk on this little girl

The real mystery here is how AnnaK4's prediction was off by four entire games!
Actually I was gonna predict it would be 62 20-ret but then I thought it would be more melodramatic if Cibulkova retires being MP down ;)

4-all, 15-all point aggravated Dominika thigh injury 'cuz she lost her serve 2 pts later. Elena has a tough match with Caroline tomorrow.

She really was injured. Her thigh was wrapped yesterday and Greg told me she was favoring her other leg today.

Never was really a fan of Dominika before this week. I watched her play Paszek and she really impressed me, and after seeing her in person she is amazingly beautiful too - just has it all ;)

Not that I think that Domi's injury was fake, but she sure retires a lot. She must have the highest % of retirements out of top50 players over the last year or so.

The 1st set wasn't as tight as the score indicates.
Cibulkova hits way cleaner than Cornet or Wozniacki, and moves faster. How come, even on her best surface (green clay) she failed to discomfit Lena D., who sometimes struggles against defensive grinders?
1) players with enough firepower can and will hit through her from the baseline. Cibulkova's size and small wingspan mean that, even though her footspeed is awesome, she doesn't cover the court as well as larger players with bigger strides.
2) she always hits the same 3/4 pace, 3/4 depth ball, and as she doesn't mix it up save for a few dropshots here and there, her game becomes predictable. She may consistently hit a clean ball off both sides, something that say Cornet or Wozniacki are unable to do, but she lacks the raw power to hit through anyone, and her shotmaking will end up having the effect of making her opponents raise their games - and often overpower her.

Domi:hug:, hope the injury isn't too serious. The players provided an entertaining first set of tennis imo:yeah:
