I think I should explain why I implemented such criteria.
First of all, it's impossible to compare modern day players with players of Navratilova/Evert era, depth-wise WTA of 70/80s and WTA of 90/00s are two completely different tours.
Then, my goal was not only to make a list of players with 10+ titles but also to show who they beat to win those titles. Since I could only use the official WTA site I couldn't provide such info on Graf's and Sabatini's title runs in 1985-1987. That's why I decided to go only with players whose first tournament wins came since 1990.
As for "at least one title since 2001" criterion I did it to omit Anke Huber and Julie Halard from the list as both of them, imo, belong to Graf/Seles era. So does Maggie Maleeva but I couldn't ignore her as she still meets all the criteria :fiery:

That way you keep Capster, while taking out Maleeva. :p

P.S. "at least 5 titles won since 2000" would work too.

It's not surprising that Pierce and Capriati are very close to being cut here. I consider them remnants of the Graf/Seles era who played on and continued to have success this century.

Lena D has more MM tournaments than Jelena, so she deserves to be put on the list I guess?

Ok so one day Ana will be added to the list with he GREAT tournaments wins over one top 10 player in total for whole tournament?

It's just a list. Rules are mentioned. They qualify. Get over it.

I think Anna K.4 is actually cyborg from an alien culture ported into a couple of supercomputers.

We think he's from Yamantau Mountain Complex (the Russian equivalent of Area 51), but of course we can't PROVE it.

Another interesting thread, AnnaK_4ever :yeah:

Kimmie  and now Jelena :hearts:

Also interesting looking at how many seasons it took to get their wins. I think Kimmie at the end of 2005 was second to Davenport of the players playing then (so excluding Hingis). Of course Justine and Venus have overtaken her since.

Interesting that Venus, Justine and Jennifer all won their first Slam as their 10th title. And that Clijsters won 27 titles before winning her first Slam!

Some random facts :

Davenport (#234) is the lowest ranked winner of the tournament of any kind (Tier III Bali 2007)
Clijsters (#133) is the lowest ranked winner of Tier I/II (Tier I Indian Wells 2005)
Serena (#81) is the lowest ranked winner of GS tournament (Oz Open 2007)

Other players who won titles while being ranked outside top-100 :
Myskina (#196) - 1999 Palermo, tier IV
Henin (#178) - 1999 Antwerp, tier IV
Maleeva (#131) - 1999 Pattaya City, tier IV
Davenport (#126) - 2007 Quebec City, tier III
Capriati (#113) - 1999 Strasbourg, tier III

Another interesting note : 42 out of 43 Hingis' titles came when Martina was ranked top-10.

In 1999 Serena, Justine, Kim, Amelie, Anastasia won their first tour titles and Jennifer and Magdalena won their first comeback titles.

which makes me wonder, is Serena overachieving. She "only" has 33/34 titles but 10 grand slams. That's a fairly high percentage. Or is she just lacking the usual MM tournaments

Serena doesn't play MM tournaments often. Venus and Davenport have higher numbers, but they also have a decent amount of MM tournaments.

In slams.

Serena (10)
Venus (7)
Davenport (3)

In Tier I.

Davenport(11)
Serena(10) Miami this year. :bigcry: Could be tied.
Venus (7)

I'll take Serena's 33.

Me too, I prefer Serena's titles. 10 slams and Miami 5 times. That's almost half of her tournament wins right there at the 5 most important events. It's just based on the number of GS titles, Serena should have a lot more regular titles.

Yeah I hope Kim can add some slams, if it's only one, I'd be happy.

Serena/Maria/Kim can win all tournaments, I wouldn't mind :hearts:

Great to see accomplished veterans with some but no great success as well as GS titelists on this list. Shows the depth the tour once had.

Kim's #9999 is the lowest ranked player to win a tournament of any kind, let alone a GS.

Thanks for the stats! I think the Championships and the Olympics may be put in bold too, since they are significantly different from the other tournaments. And please change Kim's "unr" into #9999, would you, thanks!
