Good win for Melanie. Wondering if Aleksandra was tired from Ponte Vedra Beach?

It's not like Aleks is anything great... she plays well in short streaks and can rarely put together two good tournaments in a row. Mel has been doing well on clay. It made me laugh yesterday seeing a poster ask who Aleks would play in the third round, assuming that Aleks would easily beat Mel.

Congrats Mel! :worship: :bounce: :D

 I like Melanie, but if Aleks is nothing great...what does that say for someone who's just breaking into the top 150? Aleks is definitely streaky, and after all her three-setters this kind of loss was bound to happen. Doesn't really mean much for Aleks, so just regroup. :)

Good win. Wozniak was most likely tired, but this result wouldn't surprise me even if she wasn't.

Aleks complained of being tired in the second set against Spears yesterday and that her shoulder was hurting more than in PVB..I guess it has played a big role in this result :(....but yeah I agree, that's an awful results, she should be able to play two full weeks in a row at least

Hmm too bad, I was hoping she'd be able to pull through this one and snag a 3rd round showing, but I guess all of these 3 setters have taken some toll. A bit disappointed with the score, but nevermind :) Get some rest and let the shoulder relax for a few days Aleks :)

Wozniak has written on her website than she had difficulties to hit because of a weakness in her shoulder. I suppose than this is the same shoulder who was injuried.

Aleks is soo inconsistent in her results. ex:last week and this week... She had a good opportunity to have good back to back weeks and falters.

She has a tear and feels the pain in the back of her shoulder every time she serves.

She can play with it (she missed five weeks after Fed Cup; she had been planning to so that South America/Mexico red clay swing). But she can only do limited work and physical stuff on it during tournaments, otherwise it'll be too tired for the actual matches.

She probably just hit the wall with it. She didn't hold serve in that second set, and her second serve got crushed. Probably hurt too much even to go for the second, as she was doing in Florida, but which created some wild-looking double faults because the arm is sort of trying to figure out some way to serve without hurting. Body parts will do that. ;-)

It's obviously because of her shoulder injury. There is no way she would have lost, had she been injury free.

Oudin is seemingly transitioning from juniors to the main tour pretty well! That's a good sign! She's probably used to winning, so she probably has the hunger!

Oudin played so well in the second set, probably the best she ever has. Sliding well, hitting deep and heavy forehands. It was a nice first outing in Family Circle Stadium, will make her a little more comfortable during her match against Bartoli.
