So who will win.

I like Miss Georgia, she seems normal and her answers aren't fake like California or trying to hard like Massachuttes.

Hawaii seems to be a bitch in that video :fiery::fiery:
I also think Utah is higly overrated, New York is good also imo. They are all better than Miss USA 07 Rachel Smith anyway. :tape:

I had no idea this was coming up, thanks for the links. I LOVE that they did a 40's glamor shot for these girls. Some of the girls look stunning in their photos! :hearts:

Some of my favorites:

I always pull for my home state - South Carolina - but this year's contestant makes me unsure. We usually make top 15/top 10.

I dont get why people are so anti-pagent. The girls aren't forced to do this and many are very intelligent as well as beautiful.

1 - California
2 - Hawaii
3 - Texas

I didn't like California and Hawaii's confessional on the official site and Texas has a hideous evening gown.

Miss Alaska has a very pretty face, but her stomach is not toned and her legs are much bigger than the other contestants. When you are judging a pageant, you notice small things like this and a girl with big legs comes across and really odd in group of skinny girls.

Her midriff isn't @ all "fat", and I personally like legs like that. And you yourself called (I presume most, not all of) the others... skinny. Hey, this isn't fucking Seventh Avenue in NYC, where the fashion industry looks for "skinny", so that the models' curves don't distract ppl from the clothes.

And be nice, in 20 years this girl may be running for Governor, then Vice-President, then... :p

Hey - I would love to see Alaska make top 15, but I've judged pageants for years now in the Miss America and Miss USA system and I know what it looks like when a girl with big legs walk out on stage. It's not just skinny they look for - they want tone and muscle definition in thighs, calves, quads, abs, and arms. Unfortunately, based on the things I've seen, Alaska has none of these.

Sadly, it pretty much is. It had dwindling ratings on network tv and finally was moved to CMT a few years back. Now it's on TLC and is part-reality based as well.

It's more exciting at the local level (like Miss Atlanta or Miss South Carolina) where the girls are more prevalent in their community. Nobody cares about Miss America anymore - except the ones competing in it.

I saw this coming 15 years ago when Miss USA made it more of a competition and Miss America was all about who was most "pure." Now I'm concerned because Miss Teen USA is off tv too -- I hope Trump keeps the pageants on network tv!

Omg did you see Delaware's video on the site, that girl is a legend, I get the feeling she isn't a big fan of Hawaii or California, tbh they do see like they would throw anyone under the bus.

Is anybody else noticing how hoochified the pageant is this year? OMG I am really surprised - it looks like they could be auditioning for places in a brothel, with the poses, spread legs, and a lot of the sultry (they must think) faces. And lots of skin showing. These pageants used to at least masquerade as wholesome.

And what about this Kid Rock wannabee? Is he a known singer?

2nd Runner-up - Kentucky

Miss USA 2009 - North Carolina

If California wins, it's a disgrace on the Miss Universe system and I will NOT PULL FOR MISS USA (for the first time since I began watching in 1987) for the first time ever.....please dear GOD do not let her win.

If they were wholesome, they would have gone the way of Miss America - virtually non-existant.

The guy singing was Kevin Rudolff - it's a hit song he collaborated with Lil' Wayne on it.....it's awesome.

Question: Basically - should gay marriage be allowed?

Answer: I think it's great that we can choose to live in a state that has gay marriage and that has opposite marriage but for me and my family, I disagree with gay marriage.

Take that back 100 years and insert segregation where gay marriage is and see how that sounds.

Why not? Gays are being denied equal rights currently just like racial minorities were being denied equal rights 50-100 years ago.

Here's my take on the whole Miss California thing. First off, hats off to her for saying what she believes in and how she was raised up and isn't fazed by the fact that Perez as a judge is asking her that question. BUT, as a representation of Miss USA, this is NOT about herself and what she believes in. Being Miss USA is suppose to be selfless because you are out there to represent the voice of the people, ALL people. It's great that she stands for what she believes in, but being Miss USA isn't about individualism, it's about serving the community and she is too selfish to think about that.

It's because the Miss America winner gets a scholarship that could pay for most, if not all, of her education :p
That pageant declined after Vanessa Williams was pressured into giving up the 1984 crown because of some previous "somewhat embarrassing" pics. This is funny on their website:

All other media inquiries should be directed via email to pr@MissAmerica.org or via phone to the MAO Public Relations Department... :tape:

Hey, is this Miss China or something? "And if you go carrying pictures of Chairman Mao... You ain't gonna make it with anyone anyhow" (John Lennon, from Revolution by the Beatles)

Back to the Miss USA pageant, Miss Delaware's funny video was a spoof on the state never having made Top 15. (I think she could have a decent career doing standup comedy.) And I'll bet Miss Alaska is the only one who knows how to field dress a moose. :p

Please don't compare disagreeing with gay marriage to segregation. Just because she didn't support gay marriage doesn't mean that she believes gay people should be mistreated are treated like second class citizens.

Not allowing two legal age adults the right to marry is treating people like second class citizens.

I just saw the Miss California clip. Good on her for sticking for what she believes in and for admitting she was brainwashed that way (it's how I was raised. How about using your own brain instead of copying what mommy and daddy believe?).
But boohoo that she thinks this lost her the competition. I doubt it. Being a nitwit had more to do with it, I guess.
I don't get why this has to make BBC news though. They should stop giving Perez Hilton this kind of attention. PH isn't exactly the brightest kid around either.

I think she finished 2nd in the pageant itself, but won Miss Congeniality. (Probably with a lot of seductive winks and waves) ;) And I realize that by today's standards the old one-piece bathing suits don't come across as sexy, but bikinis in beauty pageants are a fairly recent (concession to the reality that sex appeal is a big part).

*Makes note to write The Donald urging wet t-shirt contest starting next year. If well received, same for panties in a few years.

Well... I don't see how this whole Miss California answer thing is a big deal but both her and Perez are great self-promoters ;) I've just read all the posts on his site regarding this issue and almost all the comments are so unbelievably homophobic! I knew most of the posters were Perez haters but when did that site become so bigotted?

Actually, I had no idea who he was. I thought, why is Paris Hilton involved with Miss USA.

Why not? Gays are being denied equal rights currently just like racial minorities were being denied equal rights 50-100 years ago.

The argument is "marriage" and not "civil unions". Most states recognize marriage has the legal union between a man and a woman. No one is denying gays the rights to be joined in civil unions. Where do we draw the line with whom or what we can marry? Would it be ok to deny a mother from marrying her son or how about a man wanting to marry his pet chimp, who he believes understand the vows of marriage? BTW, I'm not comparing gays to primates, but the point is what is believed to be the intention of the act of "marriage".

Miss California has the right to believe whatever it is that she does-- whether or not it's right or wrong. But the way she worded her answer was such a catastrophe. I would hate to think that something like her could represent the U.S.A. Horrifying!

Does it bother anyone else that the top 5 looked like quints, except one twin was rebellious and decided to get a new hair color? HM.

I'll tell you what's really horrifying here: that ppl act like this made for TV extravaganza (judged by ppl hired based on ???) somehow determines (in your words) who "represents" the USA in terms of viewpoints, values, etc. Ever stop and ask about that broader point?

I realize that unelected monarchs supposedly represent Britain, NED, BEL, etc. but they generally don't express opinions on anything there's much controversy about. (U.S. Supreme Court Justices aren't elected, but are appointed by the President and must be confirmed by the U.S. Senate.)

In effect Miss USA "represents" only Donald Trump and NBC (maybe also its parent company GE).

I have not use for Perez Hilton, but Miss California deserved to lose, not for saying she is against same-sex marriage, but the way she answered the question. Instead of saying this is my country, this is how I was reaised and no offense, this dummy should have said the follwoing (or something similar):

"While I understand that people of same sex want the same marriage rights as people of the opposite sex, I believe marriage is between a man and a woman"

The way she answered the question, she came off like a bigot (which she probably isn't) and therefore deserved to lose (though she was better looking than the winner, Miss North Carolina).

Anyway. Perez should just shut. the. fuck. up.

This debate has gone way BEYOND the topic of gay marriage! It's basically Perez prancing around town just dissing the poor girl for standing what she believes in. Leave her alone, that's HER BELIEFS, we're all entitled to what we believe. And sheesh, I support gays.

Thanks to what she is doing, she has cost Kristen any chance of being Miss Universe. There is no way Donald Trump, who saved the Miss Universe organization from near oblivion, will let this person become the new Miss USA and run the risk of people boycotting sponsors.

The people at Miss California have claimed she has an "oppourtunistic agenda" and are saddened by her alliance with these people.

If the Miss California people take the crown of her if she continues this sort of thing then Miss Arizona will become 1st Runner Up I assume.

No I also heard he only supports Civil Partnerships, however some people believe that he has to take that position because by taking a pro-gay marriage stance would have lessened his chances with conservative democrats.

Like apart from people like Gavin Newsom I don't think a major number of US polititans actually favour Gay Marriage.

Miss Delaware has commented on her face book

Thought of the day...It's a good thing that California offended the gay population AFTER she had her hair done. Because I can name quite a few hairstylists who would have f*cked her dome up.

I loved Delaware, she was keeping it real, she also said this a few days ago.

Star Report: State pageant paid for Miss California's implants

By Jeff Thomas

From Mercury News wire reports
Posted: 05/01/2009 07:25:40 PM PDT
Updated: 05/01/2009 07:52:28 PM PDT

In a shocking development, it's being reported that some contestants in beauty pageants use certain artificial methods to enhance certain body parts. And no, we're not talking about prescription-strength Aqua Net.

It turns out that Miss California Carrie Prejean, already controversial for revealing her anti-gay marriage views during the Miss USA competition recently (she came in second), felt like she needed a little upstairs renovation to present her very best side during the contest. So her friends at the Miss California Pageant helpfully paid for breast implants. Anything for a homie!

In an interview Friday on "The Early Show," Keith Lewis, the co-director of the Miss California Pageant, admitted to helping Prejean get the breast job. "We assisted when Carrie came to us and voiced the interest in having the procedure done," Lewis told "Early Show" co-anchor Maggie Rodriguez. Here are some excerpts from the interview:

LEWIS: Well, we would never encourage her to go that route, but "...

RODRIGUEZ: But why not discourage her?

LEWIS: "... it's a personal choice. Well, I think that it's about how a woman feels about herself. In terms of, for me, it's not a personal choice that I would recommend. But at the same time, I know so many women that have done the procedure and feel better about themselves and the way they present themselves...

(And CNN carried the story too, minus the spoff in this one I omitted about chicken cutlets.)

Edit: for all I know the majority of the contestants could have implants (not just in their boobs, but maybe some in their booties too) and some may use other tricks like diuretics to look more toned, so I don't want to imply that Miss CA was the only (cheater, IMO) just because in her case it was reported. Maybe this is like bodybuilding, where (except for the natual contests where the guys don't look like freaks) they presumably have to use steroids, etc. 2B on a "level playing field" with those who still do.

And while the Governator no longer uses them and probably hasn't for years, he still hosts that annual contest in Columbus, OH called The Arnold where its rather obvious that the successful contestants are using whatever substances. Ironic, in that even the possession of these (except by ppl like AIDS patients with medical exemptions) is a Federal crime and presumably violates CA state laws too. So I guess X% of the women in the beauty pageants have as few principles as the bodybuilders do. :spit:

Funny thing is, even with these fakes the judges thought Arizona and North Carolina still looked better in swimwear.

A victory for natural boobs.
