I expected Caroline's voice to be much higher for some reason. When I heard her talk, I was like "woah". It made her seem a lot older. I also heard a small clip of Sorana Cirstea and her voice sounds higher than I expected it to. I also expected Chakvetadze's voice to be higher. Anyone else have any similar experiences?

I always thought Vera Z's voice would match with her feline looks- light and airy. However, her voice is very deep. Still sounds good though;)

Anna K was the same. Her voice was hardly soprano:lol:

Agreed, Vera has a surprisingly beautiful voice --- nice accent and quite articulate in English as a second language. A pleasure to listen to her.

Ai Sugiyama has like an Americanish type accent which I wasn't expecting.

Vera and Dani both sound really intelligent and speak fantastic English.

Kleybanova is kind of scary, sounds kind of like Sveta.

Davenport and Venus.

Didn't expect Davenport to sound so girly, and didn't expect Venus to have such a pretty voice.

Anna has a very valley girl IMO, a typical surburban american dialec.

Ana Ivanovic's voice is weird its hard to listen to her for a long time!
I thought her voice would be much higher than what it is. But she sorta talks like jankovic but a little higher.

Venus and Serena have squeaky voices, sounds like they just inhaled helium.
Actually there voices are much higher than what they were in the 90's. I like the way they talk, especially Venus.

Tamarine Tanasugarn.
She talks like a typical Asian American IMO (no offense) you know high and flat.

I just watched Kleybanova and she talks exactly like Kuzzy. I thought her voice would be very high like Seles'(she has the highest voice IMO), but its so caveman like.

:eek:I know this is a womens forum, but anyone else surprised by Verdasco's voice. His voice is very deep and baritonish, same with Rafa.

Petrova's voice is weird, because she has like 3 different accents going on. She has a Russian lilt accompanied by a hint of Egyptian mixed with a bit of a British accent. So her very well traveled childhood has made her voice the melting pot of the many cultures she has lived in. She sounds like no other Russian, that's for sure.;)

Is it just me, or does Elena D.'s voice sound lower when she speaks Russian than when she speaks English?

I've seen a couple interviews in Russian and I swear her voice goes down like a full octave. It's still very feminine but much throatier and IMHO, sexier.

Maybe it's because she giggles a lot in English. Or maybe it's just my imagination.

When Elena speaks french both her voice and accent is like, better than half of Paris. So classy, which is not a surprise though.

As others have said, Chaky. But I was also really surprised when I first heard Hantuchova talk. I was just getting into the game at that time (2005-ish I think) and didn't know many players, so I assumed because of her mousy features and young looking face that she was young (like 16 or 17). But she spoke, and then I found out her real age, and I was very surprised.

I think most of us expected Mauresmo to have a deeper voice. I really love Vera Z's voice. She sounds classy and intelligent. Hingis' meanwhile is so weird. She always seemed on the verge of tears whenever she speaks.

Elena Vesnina's surprised me a little. Because she is Russian, I expected something different, especially hearing her shout "Davai!" and "Vishna!" (????) all week at PVB. But in person her voice was very soft and sweet and girlish. She giggled a little, too.
